It’s Hayes Here with New Year’s Safety Tips! ✨🐾ds!

🎆 Stay Indoors Where It’s Quiet: All those loud fireworks can be super scary for us dogs. Find a cozy spot inside with your favorite blanket and toys to keep calm and comfy.

🕯️ Watch Those Decorations: Candles and sparklers are fun for humans, but they can be dangerous for us. Make sure all decorations are out of our reach to prevent any accidents.

🍫 No Yummy but Harmful Foods: Chocolate, grapes, and some other treats are tasty for you humans but toxic for us pups. Keep those goodies safely stored away!

🚪 Secure All Exits: Don’t let those excited humans accidentally let us out. Keep doors and windows closed tight, and maybe use baby gates to keep us safe inside.

💡 Create a Safe Haven: Set up a quiet, comfy space where we can retreat if the noise gets too much. Soft music or calming sprays can help us relax and feel secure.

👂 Stay Calm Together: We look to you for comfort, so keep your cool and give us lots of love and gentle reassurance throughout the night.

LOOK AT THIS FACE! Jovie is a 5 month old lab mix who is currently about 15lbs. She is an affectionate pup with a heart full of potential and a story of perseverance. Taken into animal control at a very young age, Jovie had to endure extended isolation due to ringworm, which meant she missed out on the socialization that’s so important for puppies. Jovie adores people and is eager to learn, but she’s still figuring out how to trust and interact with other dogs. She would thrive in a calm and understanding home with an experienced adopter who can help her build confidence and navigate the world at her own pace. Jovie has so much love to give and is ready to start the next chapter of her life with someone who sees the wonderful dog she is meant to be.

The holidays are upon us and as much fun as it is to celebrate with our furbabies, we have to keep them safe. Not all of the holiday sparkle and color are for our pets. Mistletoe and Holly cause nausea and vomiting. Poinsettias cause stomach upset and many lillies cause dangerous kidney failure in cats. Other hazards to be aware of are broken ornaments, stepped on or ingested can cause serious injuries. Tree water may have preservative chemicals and fertilizers in it and can also cause serious issues if consumed by our furbabies. In addition, consumed tree needles can puncture intestinal lining and cause painful and expensive obstructions. Make sure wires are secured and candles aren't left unattended, so we can protect our pets from painful burns and shocks.
