Baby O learned today that you can walk next to a big kid around the arena. As usual, she did GREAT! She acted like she had done this many times. She is calm, focused and more trusting of me since we started our training adventures under the guidance of Jo Jo. We are so grateful to Jo Jo. This is one special mare!

Heartbreak! Our beloved “Pup Pup, Roo Roo, aka “Atlas” went to heaven. Please keep us in your thoughts/prayers as we grieve. He adored kids, would fetch until he literally dropped, loved to swim (river, pool, water troughs), would drag lg tree limbs acres to play with, was known throughout the neighborhood and probably logged more miles that from here to the moon. The hole in our hearts is huge…

My uncle Mo and i filled many wagons like this the summer i was 15 on the family farm near Syracuse NY. He had polio as a teen and still worked circles around me without much use of his legs—and he was near 60! That was REAL WORK! If you’re craving character development come join a hay offload with us this summer!

I remember my father quizzing my sons Rett and Jamie when they were little---“Why were the old barns built so big? What did they not have then that required so much space?”

The answer of course was hay balers. Loose hay takes up so much more space, and unloading a pile like this by hand pitchfork was no simple job. In one of Robert Frost’s poems, “Death of the Hired Man” he talks about knowing so well how the hay was pitched onto the wagon that you are not standing on hay that you are trying to unload.

I have never done loose haying. Who here has?

Our Philosophy

We set out to provide places where kids can be kids while learning about horses... They don’t have to know how riding benefits the neuromuscular connection, benefits all other sports, increases learning abilities and grades, improves emotional health, reduces the risks for ankle and knee injuries, increases a sense of responsibility and makes self esteem soar... That’s the kind of stuff we parents concern ourselves with! We encourage kids to explore what excites them about equine relationships and tailor lessons and camps to their interests. Sure, we make lesson plans and set goals, but we will remain flexible to see where the child’s ability and interest lead as well. We are a small, home based farm business with 3 incredible lesson horses who take care of their kids! For more experienced riders we have 2 other horses available for lessons and shows. We teach horsemanship and riding in English tack first so that riders have real balance and feel before ever putting them in a western saddle. We have experience working with special populations as well, and find this niche very rewarding. Please call or text 480/703-8050 to set up your private lessons, camps or party!
