Washington County Animal Shelter

Washington County Animal Shelter Shelter hours: Monday-Friday 10:30-4:30
https://www.petfinder.com/shelters/AR295.html What does the Animal Shelter do? How do I adopt a pet?

The Washington County Animal Shelter works to lower the number of animal nuisance problems in the county and to increase the number of animals returned to their homes or adopted into loving homes. Since opening in 2012, we’ve averaged assisting over 2000 displaced or homeless pets per year. We have averaged over 350 spay or neuter surgeries each year through our Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program. We ar

e dedicated to continuing these efforts. Start by asking yourself if you have the time and money to dedicate to a dog or cat? Then consider what kind of pet best suits your personality and living situation. Do you rent, and does your landlord allows pets? Do you have a fenced yard? Do you want an active pet or a couch potato? Once you answer these questions, take a look at the pets available at our shelter online. Once a pet is selected, we require you and the other pets in your home to meet with the dog or cat before making any decisions. How much does adoption cost? Our standard adoption fees are $45 for cats and $65 to $250.00 for dogs. This includes:
Spay or Neuter
Heartworm testing & Preventative
Initial age appropriate vaccines, including rabies if applicable. Flea & Tick Preventative
Microchip implant

What if I need to surrender a pet or have a stray animal on my property? Surrenders are by appointment ONLY. Please call us at (479) 695-3450 to set up an appointment for surrender. For stray animal concerns Animal Control may be reached at (479) 444-5700. WASHINGTON COUNTY SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM
Eligibility to this program is limited to county residents who do not reside within the city limits of an incorporated city whose population is in excess of 10,000 and whose annual family incomes do not exceed the current Low Income Limits for Washington County as established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Proof of income is required and must be included with this application form. Acceptable items to document proof of income are: last years W-2 statement; income tax statement; social security statement; disability reimbursement statement; or pay check stub. We’re proud to support our local shelters and give back to the community! Our friends at Washington County Animal Shelter are offering free microchips for pets participating in their spay/neuter program. Microchipping helps lost pets reunite with their families faster—an important step in keeping more animals safe and out of shelters! 🐾💙
