"A Scout is helpful."

From the Natural State Council, SCOUTING AMERICA (formerly Scouts BSA/Boy Scouts)-

On Sunday, May 26, Northwest and North Central Arkansas experienced devastating storms that damaged homes and businesses, displaced families, and left many people in need of basic supplies.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the storms, especially our Scouting families.

Doing a good turn and lending a helping hand is at the heart of Scouting. In fact, our ability to work together to support our communities during difficult times is what makes Scouts and Scouters extraordinary.

In an effort to help meet the needs of residents of these areas, the Natural State Council is collecting supplies at the Little Rock and at the Shewmaker Center for Scouting in Springdale Service Centers.

Items needed are:

toilet paper
First aid supplies
work gloves
batteries & flashlights
towels
toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shower gel, shaving cream, razors, deodorant)
feminine hygiene products
baby formula
Baby diapers
power strips
coolers

Donations may be dropped off at the Little Rock Scout Service Center on Monday -Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm and at the Shewmaker Center for Scouting in Springdale on Monday -Friday between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Additionally, if you are a Scout family that needs specific items or help, please fill out the form below. We will do our best to fulfill those needs.

Thank you for being part of the Natural State Council family.

Foster need for 2 elderly small dogs, both very sweet.

Some folks visiting from out of state picked these old babies on the road where there were no houses nearby. We scanned them for chips and no luck.

The dogs and their rescuers are in Fayetteville. They desperately need to place these little dogs with a foster ASAP.

Please PM or text me at 479-856-2696 for their contact information.

Local Organizations Rally Together Again to Save Lives During Wednesday’s Winter Storm
Community Support Needed to Help Save Our Unsheltered Neighbors from Cold Weather related Death or Injury

Fayetteville— January 9,2024 — The cold front moving in to our area this weekend presents a potentially deadly scenario for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Frostbite, hypothermia, and even death are very likely to occur when someone is exposed to temperatures of 15 degrees or less for long periods of time.
7hills Homeless Center, Genesis Church, St. James Baptist Church, New Beginning Bridge Housing Community and The Salvation Army of Northwest Arkansas have teamed up to provide a collaborative solution to protect anyone needing shelter during these extreme cold days. When the temperatures reach a wind chill or “feels-like” temperature of 15 degrees or less, this team springs into action to save lives. During the evening, once the emergency shelter at Salvation Army reaches capacity, Genesis Church will open its doors to operate an emergency overflow shelter. Guests staying there will have cots, blankets, pillows, and a storage bin. People are allowed to check in at 6PM and enjoy a warm dinner provided by Genesis Church. Staffing for the overnight shelter is provided by New Beginnings and Micah 6:8 Ministries.
At 6:00 AM, Genesis Church, St. James Baptist Church and The Salvation Army close their overnight shelter. Transportation is provided to 7hills Homeless Center. 7hills opens early on these cold days to provide a warming center, coffee, breakfast and lunch, winter clothing, and bathrooms. 7hills extends their normal operating hours to 6PM to complement the Genesis Church and St. James Baptist Church shelter operating hours.
In response, 7hills has established a collaborative fund to support the operational costs of the overnight and day shelter operations.

Community Support Needed
The most urgent need is for funding to support rehousing efforts. It costs on average about $2,000 per day to provide 24 hours of emergency shelter. Donations can be made.

There is a vendor at the Washington County Fair giving away live caught BABY African Savannah Monitors and telling people that they are Iguanas. He admitted to us that he knew they weren't Iguanas. When asked how he could deceive people like that he said "so?" Eren Undem got WAY up in his face.

Savannah Monitors are CARNIVORES that are extremely territorial and can be very, very aggressive. They need extremely high heat (120 degree basking) and the ability to burrow.

They are absolutely NOT child friendly pets (for the most part) and are very, very likely to die, especially if they are housed and fed as Iguanas, who are arboreal herbivores!!

This is absolutely disgusting and deceitful.

Eren bought this baby off of a VERY unhappy (but wonderful) couple after they learned that the "Iguana" that they spent a TON of money to win, was nothing of the sort. Thank goodness, since they have 3 small children who's fingers would be perfect Savannah Monitor snack sized.

My Mom's account was h a c k e d by a spineless, shiftless, no good s c a m m e r.

Her account of 15ish years is gone, thanks to Facebook's inaction. They won't even let her appeal it. She has had to start all over with a new account.

This is her new and ONLY account. Please send her a Friend request. She misses all of our friends and clients terribly

Posting for a neighbor.
For information, please text or call Megan at 4793642491.

Located South of Morrow, AR, but we can meet an adopter with a puppy or puppies.

They have 2 puppies looking for their forever homes. They are approximately 3-4 months old and are Red Heeler/Great Pyrenees mixes. One male, one female (the fluffier one).

Both are very sweet with good manners for puppies. The family wants to keep them, but is struggling with feeding them. They also live right on the road with no fence. These puppies have had no vet care or vaccines.

Please, no bashing, these folks are doing their best. Mama dog will be staying with them and was spayed & vaccinated last week through the Friends of Prairie Grove Pound voucher program

Please meet Eden and donate for her if you can ♥️ Since rescuing Rooster the blind mustang, he has been lonely and his spirits have been low so I was looking for a mare who needed our help but could also help Rooster. We want to bring her to the vet hospital he’s in and so he can hear and feel a friend is there with him. She will also go with him to have his eye removed once he’s well. Eden is 15 years old, rounded up from Callaghan HMA and in her video on Patreon she is limping and skinny. If you’re able to donate for her we would be so grateful and so would Rooster as he would have a friend to travel home with when they’re well enough. Eden and Rooster are ambassador mustangs for why the SAFE Act must be passed so if you can’t donate please make that call ♥️ Thank you in advance for your kindness 🙏

If there's one thing that will get pet owners fired up, it's when you bring up whether dogs should always be on leashes or not when they're out in public.

Re*****on has a chance at a new life, all thanks to corporate sponsors like Superior Roofing. Re*****on was found with bullet wounds and possibly hit by a car as well. On top of that, he’s heartworm positive. His care will be expensive- but we know he’s worth it. We’re so thankful we have the money to help him thanks to our corporate sponsorships and supporters.

We got a call on Wednesday morning from one of our favorite local groomers and dog advocates. She found a very pregnant, and severely injured, dog in a rural area in NWA. Local shelters are bound by their jurisdiction, so there was no help available for this sweet mama. While we are well beyond our intake capacity, we knew we couldn't fail this mama like so many other humans have likely failed her before.

Mavis went straight to the vet (thanks to our friends at Gulley Park Pets Clinic for always going above and beyond) and we determined she not only had a severely broken leg, but was in active labor with at least 8 puppies on the way. With a foster secured, we began prepping for what we feared may be a complicated delivery knowing what terrible health mama was in. Our friends Ozark Freedom Drivers talked us through possible delivery outcomes, Humane Society of the Ozarks loaned us a whelping pool and some valuable advice, and we were on our way to deliver some puppies!

12 hours later, Mavis welcomed 8 healthy puppies into the world in a warm and loving foster home, instead of scared, alone, and in the cold. She still has a long road ahead of her, including a necessary amputation, but we will be there for her every step of the way. This wouldn't have been possible without our tribe of other rescues, fosters, and supporters.

Dogs like Mavis deserve help- but they are falling through the cracks every day. Our animal welfare system is overburdened to say the least. This is not the fault of the shelters, who do their best every day to provide the highest possible care with limitless roadblocks and red tape. This is a community problem that we are all responsible for. So let's celebrate this win for Mavis while also continuing to advocate for sensible legislation, spaying/neutering our pets, supporting rescues and shelters who save our local dogs every day, and volunteering/fostering/adopting when you can.
