🍓🍓 Saturday, November 16🍓🍓 We really don’t wanna see this right now, but there’s not much we can do about it. The new variety of strawberries are very tasty. This is the result of a warmer and longer fall season. We are picking all the runners and the blooms and the berries off as we go so when they go dormant sometime in December, they will be all ready to shoot out new growth in March🍓🍓

We’ve gotten about 1/2 of the BlackBerry floricanes(last years growth and what produced blackberries this year) pruned out of the patch on Saturday and we are starting it again this morning to hopefully get the other half done today. This is our first year in blackberry production and we are learning a whole lot. The primacanes(This years new growth)are already huge, so we’re potentially looking for another good crop next summer. It’s 6:50 AM and it’s time to get to work.

Our farm is a member of The Mid-America Strawberry Growers Association and we had our Pre-Plant meeting today in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas. The science behind how we grow and harvest our crop is fascinating and ever evolving. We have two meetings per year(Pre-Plant and Pre-Harvest)and what we learn helps us produce our crop with the safest and most efficient practices. A great big thank you to the University of Arkansas Extension Service for your research and support for our fellow farmers.
