Our trip to Abbott's Mill offered a glimpse into the usage of Mills and farming in the late 1700's and 1800's. The boardwalk trail provided a peaceful nature experience and the visitor center hosted a wide variety of wildlife and waterfowl native and once native to DE.

Oxbow Creek is a stout young mare just a hair under 16 hands. She was in race training but lacked talent and foaled a lovely c**t this year by Golden Lad. She is a lovely mover (I could see this mare in the hunter ring👍) has great manners and is up to date on everything. 🥕 In the comments.

Alrashaka is about as lovely a mare as they come. She comes from an impeccable breeding program and has had the best of care and training. She raced and has had two lovely foals. She is eligible for the RRP Broodmare division or would make an excellent addition to a breeding or riding program. Currently barefoot and up to date on everything. 🥕 In comments.

Our last session focused on roping and the use of the lasso in the American West. Everyone made the cut as cowgirls and cowboys! Great job.

Today we tried our hand at goat tying (minus the goat and tying 😉😁). Riders had to ride down to the cone, dismount, ground tie their horse and quickly walk the round pen. Our winner today was Liam riding Bud followed closely by Mimi, Emmy, Omar and Addie!

Today we learned about color and markings of horses. We talked about our own physical characteristics such as hair and eye color then we looked at the horses on the farm and at magazine pictures. Bays, blacks, browns, chestnuts, greys to name a few. Bud, Pistol, Talc and Maverick were good examples and showed a variety in colors and markings!

Learning new things after his race career

Kellan helped school Heavy Equipment this morning. Quietly walking over poles and tarp and accepting the big red ball.

Yielding hindquarters from both sides...he is a fast learner.

This guy has been working hard at learning to sit the jog and maintain gait of the horse. Nice job this morning...Kellan came to one of our Summer camps and has been pursuing learning about horses and how to ride. Lots of growth in a very short period of time!
