We had wonderful weather for our Gymkhana today. We started off with the Pledge of Allegiance (thank you PJ for being our flag holder) followed by a prayer before enjoying some sweet treats to start our fun. We divided into teams and had a timed event to reassemble an English bridle (much harder than we thought 😁) then Ms. Rebecca showed us how to assemble one with her eyes closed!! We had a fun boot race and then fired up ole Troy to pull the roping sled🤠. Wheelbarrow races while leading your horse then two man relay races ended our events. Everyone displayed excellent sportsmanship and horsemanship and that makes EVERYONE winners!!

We want to thank Alison Reid, Nancy Gitin and Emily Walls for volunteering at our very first riding camp of the summer! The ladies did an excellent job of helping the children with their craft and games!

SOAR with Horses has had a wonderful summer but it could not have been possible without the help of our volunteers. This summer we were lucky to have a wonderful inclusion group of volunteers ♥️. Our last morning of camp was action packed. We played horse and rider to reinforce our communication skills and to better understand utilizing the reins to guide our horse. We also learned the gaits of the horse and did a little practicing on our own two feet in the round pen. We continued our focus on communication and learned a few Equestrian terms in American Sign Language and worked with Bud. Our riding opportunity was fun and everyone did a great job using their aids correctly. Last, we gave Talc a will deserved bath that he thoroughly enjoyed.

We had a busy morning learning about horses. We talked safety, communication, grooming and handling. We also had the opportunity to ride ba****ck and develop confidence and balance. We even survived the first appearances of the awful horse flies today. Can't wait for tomorrow!
