Once again, one of our integral Giving Team members, Ashley, describes the openness she sees and feels when at Red Horse. What are some ways that make you feel welcomed and accepted?

Red Horse is in our Fall Support Drive, and we're inviting you to share your support by growing our Giving Circle through engagement including, donations, conversations and referrals.

The Fall Support Drive will provide support for many programs, including Horses Empowering Youth, Mental Health and Wellness, Community Wellness – Pride and Ally Edition, Horses for Hospitality. Herd Support, & Capacity Building

In addition to being a fundraising campaign, we hope this outreach will open lanes of conversation and listening so we can continue to learn and serve our communities.

We'd love your help in growing our circle!

The Youth Advisory Council of the Allegan County Community Foundation, also known as the TAG (Teens Aiding Growth) Team, is conducting a Youth Needs Assessment to better understand the most pressing challenges facing their peers in Allegan County.

This survey is designed to gather input from the youth in Allegan County (6th-12th grade) to help guide funding for youth-related programs over the next four years. As the ones most directly impacted, the youth are in the best position to tell us about the challenges they face, and their responses will shape decisions about programs that could have a lasting impact on their peers.

We're hoping you can help us spread the word about this survey by sharing these images and links with youth of Allegan County.

Allegan County Community Foundation assures that;
Responses are completely confidential.
This assessment is focused on gathering valuable feedback to improve services and programs for youth.
The survey will be open until November 15th.

?'s should be directed to Amanda at ACCF

Thank you for considering this opportunity to amplify the voices of our youth. We believe this is a powerful way to ensure that youth have a say in the programs and services designed for them.

We're hosting a Herd Meditation Friday, and will be reflecting on the beginning of Native American Heritage Month.

We're also beginning the season where we can stay indoors if the weather dictates it. Tomorrow looks cool, with some wind, but likely dry. RSVPs are really helpful, and are available through our event page and at the link below.

This weekend we hosted our inaugural Thrive Trans workshop - the first of many to come🌈

We are deeply moved by the trust, courage and honesty we witnessed and by the safe space that was co-created.

We are so grateful to have met each of the participants and to have shared this time together.

A very special thank you goes out to Campit Outdoor Resort for going above and beyond with support for this collaboration and to the Pride Fund provided by the Allegan County Community Foundation as well.

We are looking for funding for future trans workshops, so if you have a lead on grants, private donors, or organizations who might want to support our trans communities, please reach out.

Thank you!

I love hosting AWE - Art With Educators (FPS). It’s so much fun coming up with a therapeutic art project and to see it come to life in so many creative ways!

This time, we ripped up old discarded (well, I guess i held on to them ‘cause you never know?!) art and created new art - based on an inspiration from trip to Denmark.

Thank you for participating Fennville Public Schools teachers and staff. We appreciate you!

In addition to Red Horse, our other amazing community is ARCH Arenas for Change. We have been part of the creative team, creating content for our online library of courses since 2020. If you are interested in checking it out, I’ll post a link in the comments.

Peaceful - trust - calming - enjoyed…

We really enjoyed hosting the Allegan County Community Foundation. We shared a peaceful guided meditation, a visit with the herd with a lot of trust from the horses, and we all felt calming energy in their bubble.

We also enjoyed cider and donuts from Crane's Pie Pantry Restaurant & Winery - thank you!!

We had a brief break and then it was time for the Fennville Public Schools Thrive Youth second group of the week.

We had a beautiful fall day for the Fennville Public Schools Thrive Youth series.

The traumas and stories just fall out as we walk from one place to another, or while they pet Rosie and Jasper.

It doesn’t always occur to me until later how profound a short statement was or how traumatic a story was, because there is always a lot to attend to as facilitators - horses, dogs, snacks, stories, a stomach ache, a need….

We so appreciate the FPS counselors and the volunteer staff who help us navigate key moments, manage all the paperwork, communicate before, during and after, and give us insights about the students.

THANK YOU Lindsay, Alli, Sean, Renee, Susan and all the rest of you. We appreciate you💜

THANK YOU to my Red Horse team for always showing up big! Jenny, Fred, Sydney, Maya, Freya, Prince, Juniper, Gus, Clara, Rosie and Jasper💜

Love Ulla

PS. Tomorrow we have about 25 students coming in two different groups. The Allegan County Community Foundation is sending their TAG youth team for a tour and we have our second FPS group.

Love it all💜

To our transgender & gender fluid friends,

You are invited to a Thrive Trans personal wellness workshop on Saturday, October 26th, from 9:30 am to 6 pm in Fennville, Michigan. Thrive Trans is presented by Red Horse Center and Campit Outdoor Resort with support from the County Community Foundation.

We'll lean into the theme, "What Do You Need to be Accepted and Thrive as Your True Self?" while spending the day in nature, in community with gender fluid folx, horses, and dogs. Meditation, therapeutic art, and listening to horses combine into a safe and transformative space to explore your own personal “Thrive Story.”

A Trauma-informed experience, facilitated by hosts and allies, Red Horse Center will guide and support self discovery, and healing, while also supporting communication skills towards achieving the most successful outcomes when interacting with family, co-workers, employers, neighbors and others outside the Trans community.

Register by calling Campit Reservations at 269-543-4300 Space is limited so sign up today

We want to take a moment to honor Indigenous Peoples Day by listening, learning and reflecting. Respect and connection to the wisdom and spirit of the horse is something we have in common with indigenous cultures. As we recognize this important holiday, we can lean into the practice of listening, an art that horses have generously helped us deepen. By quieting ourselves, and actively listening, we can embrace hope that those whose culture has faced erasure and injustice, can be seen and heard.
