Come join us at Crane's Pie Pantry Restaurant & Winery for a special event benefiting Red Horse Center! This special edition, 5-course dinner celebrates community through a shared meal with friends, old and new. It also showcases collaborative support, raising awareness and funds for Red Horse Center and their mission to provide equitable access to mental health, personal wellness and youth support in our community. Reserve your seat in advance, and join us for 5 wonderful courses, each paired with our own hard ciders & wines, all while supporting a great local cause. The Red Horse team will be here speaking, telling heartfelt stories of transformation through the amazing collaboration with horses. They'll answer questions, and invite you to be part of the community they have created. You'll also hear from the Crane's team about the food & drink pairings and if we're lucky, some remarkable stories from the vault. Hannah Laine will shape the aesthetic and mood with her music. We're hosting a Herd Meditation Friday, and will be reflecting on the beginning of Native American Heritage Month. We want to take a moment to honor Indigenous Peoples Day by listening, learning and reflecting. Respect and connection to the wisdom and spirit of the horse is something we have in common with indigenous cultures. As we recognize this important holiday, we can lean into the practice of listening, an art that horses have generously helped us deepen. Here's a short video we took yesterday, wrapping Prince's hoof. We're sharing it for a few reasons. 1) Maybe some horse person could use the pro tip? This wrap method addresses abcesses and other common hoof ailments. There are many ways to try and get a horse to soak a hoof, and most of them have included calamity. This has become my tried and true method. It's soothing to the horse, usually lasts longer and is more efficient than soaking 30 minutes twice a day. 2) It feels like one of those things that may be of interest to supporters of Red Horse. Prince "giving" his hoof and standing calmly while we work, demonstrates the value of mutual trust, communication and collaboration. Lifting hooves is a trust fall for horses and humans and we are so moved by their generosity and willingness. 3) It also is one of the many aspects of herd care that makes up our request for "Herd Support." Hoof trims, general aid and support towards ailments, chiropractic care, hay and feed, supplements and ongoing stall and pasture care is all part of supporting their health and well being.
