Angel Arms Senior Pet Refuge was established to provide a final and loving foster home for senior and/or unadoptable pets who have been displaced from their homes and/or abandoned. This forever home is a loving alternative to euthanasia for the older furbabies that need a warm and comfy place to live out their last days. Angel Arms does not adopt out the senior or special needs pets we take in. Th

e event of losing their family, loved ones, or being abandoned/lost is an extremely stressful time for these pets and we want to make their final days, months, or years as safe, loving and peaceful as possible.

It's always a hard and heartbreaking decision to make when you have to send a sick or senior pet over the 🌈 bridge. It's 100 times harder when you have to make that decision based on behavioral issues. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself it's not your fault the pet couldn't be rehabilitated or socialized, it still feels like you've completely failed that poor animal. Yesterday was such the case for me. I had to put a 2 yr old dog down that OCAC asked me to take to work with him. I tried my best but Jack was just too reactive toward other people and definitely toward other dogs his size or larger. He loved me to death and followed me like a shadow. But just me. I asked other rescues to take him, but no one wanted to take the risk. I couldn't keep him here as I had to keep him separated from the other dogs who were all petrified of him. The poor seniors just didn't need that stress. So, I chose the rainbow 🌈 bridge for Jack to relieve him of his fear, anger and anxiety. We had to muzzle him so the vet could sedate him, but I took it off when he relaxed and he passed in my arms free from any bo***ge.
The house is a lot more relaxed today and all the stress and fear is gone for the seniors.
Please don't hate me Jack. I tried. At least you had a few months of running in the yard, chasing squirrels, good food and big fluffy beds. Run free and Rest in peace my Jack buddy. I hope you know you took a big piece of my heart with you. 💔💔
