Update Saturday 4/12 from is foster mom:
Xander was given fluids and enemas again to no avail. He is currently at VSS. The Veterinarian came in and talked to me while they were looking at him in the back. He is definitely impacted, which we knew. He is worried about his diabetes. His fear is DKA, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/diabetic-ketoacidosis-in-cats. Is some cases DKA can be fatal. He's hoping we caught it early enough and can get him down to a normal range of blood glucose. With all of this his liver numbers are up and the vet said that it could be pancreatitis. He is staying at VSS for a few days. If it is just diabetes I am not too worried. I can manage giving insulin, monitoring his glucose, and giving fluids when needed. My huge thing right now is getting his bowels empty before a perforation happens. I have prepared my home for him so he will not have to be alone in a cage or room to control his diabetes and megacolon. Please share and help defray the cost of his bill. I will post an estimate later today on his care.

Not every cat that we take in is 100% healthy. We do our best to care for these animals and get them ready for adoption. Sometimes though, our fosters become special needs. They may be diabetic, or need medicines to help them live the best life they can. This is Xander. He is a very beautiful smoke colored kitty. This means his under coat is white and the top coat is black. Xander came to us when he was 6 weeks old. From the day we rescued him he has always had some health issue pop up. Around 2021 Xander was diagnosed with megacolon. He has been on medications twice a day, probiotics twice a day, at times miralax twice a day. During the bad times he was given fluids to help him through the day. Although special needs, he has lived a happy life. He loves the other cats in the home.

This week his foster mom noticed that she hadn't seen him go to the bathroom. With megacolon they can become constipated but with meds he goes regularly. Concerned she took him to the vet. He is definitely constipated. They did bloodwork and also found out he is diabetic. His bloodwork in the past has always been normal. Xander now requires medical help to get him unconstipated. Though the foster mom has tried enemas, they have not helped. Xander will be seeing a vet today to help him. We are posting this fundraiser to help defray the cost of his visits.

These brothers are two sweet boys. Charlie appreciates being petted and resting in one's lap. He is compatible with other cats and enjoys playing with his brother Herman, who is also part of the deal.

All this guy wants is a home where he can be the center of attention. He can get along with other pets but they need to be assertive and remind him the world doesn't revolve around him.

Other then his needs for affection, he is super laid back and sweet. Loves to play and roll around in the cat tunnel.

He has 2 extra toes on each front paw and one extra on each back foot.
Because his feet are so big and fluffy I like to ask him......"Paulie are you ready? You got your boots on?"

Meet Jack and Ted. Two brothers who are sweet as they come. They were born in May 2024 and brought into rescue at 8 weeks old. They are definite love bugs who reach out when they are looking for pets. Ted is an old soul who loves to hang with his human. He and Jack are playful and yet love to cuddle. They are both tabbies. Meet Nibbles! This handsome gentleman is almost 14 and is declawed. He was adopted from us as a kitten and relinquished to a shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. He's been to the vet and is healthy. He's also had a dental and is ready to go! He just needs a real forever home now. He's sweet and an easy guy. Loves to be brushed.

Wobble Baby. Adele has a middle case of CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia) which causes her to sometimes look like a bobble head figure. She is bonded with her sister Arabella and these beautiful girls must stay together. They are shy but sweet and guaranteed to make you smile.

Long-term foster care is needed for this sweet boy through St. Louis Pet Rescue. Raphael is a 7-month-old male kitten with some wobbles and tremors. He is looking for a long-term foster home in the St. Louis area. He would love to live with a fully vaccinated playmate, FeLV/FIV negative, who has no communicable diseases. Raphael is not vaccinated and can't be vaccinated for at least 6 months, so he also needs a foster home that does not have new pets coming and going all the time. He takes a small amount of prednisolone daily - that he loves! He has no problems using a litterbox or eating, loves to run and jump, and plays hard (sometimes too hard, but that is because he has no kitten friends to teach him to play gently). He has cataracts and limited sight, so he needs to have lights on where he sleeps. Raphael has never used stairs, and they may be difficult for him. But he is a ball of energy who loves having fun. He is the happiest little guy who will live a long, full life and is expected to improve with time.
