Here we go …. Harvest season has begun. Most of you know I’m ‘behind Schedule’ this year…. Rightfully and humbly so. I have to keep reminding myself just last year this was a backyard. Now it’s a farm.

The blessing is still the nature sounds that surround and pay visits. They all still love it here and call it home. The hawk that perches on the deer fence post. The plethora of cardinals and birds that surround our home making their love calls. The gobbling turkeys. The ducks that found the pond to play in. The baby buck that rips bites off of the trees for dinner. Co**ie the ‘coon that nibbles at wild strawberries and fallen mulberries…. And even gets caught raiding the bird feed in our garage. We love them all and we have all become the bestest of friends and family on this land.

In the less pretty side of farming… Most people don’t show you clips of all of the deep cleaning, Plumbing, electric work, marketing, business plans, numbers juggling, customer service skills, math and much more that we do as farmers. Right now I’m getting my vegetable processing building ready to go for harvest number one. Lots of deep cleaning sanitizing and sweating 🤪😵‍💫

This is so delicious 🤤 😇🥬. First salad greens grown with love and intention. And some shots of how things are growing. Overall I’m happy with it all but definitely troubleshooting some weak spots. First year on the new farm!

I wanted to take this backfilled trench and turn it into a beautiful wildflower filled pathway to the farm. I mixed over 200,000 native wildflower seeds in feather meal and spread it lightly over the soil. Next I lightly topped the area with leaf compost. Rain is coming today and hoping in a few weeks I’ll be able to send you a picture of Our meadow path 🦋💕🥰😍🦜🕊️🐞🐛

As promised!!! My sweetie captured me tucking these little lettuce babes in the ground before I even had a chance to put my work digs on. No time for overalls anyway today - I’m planting - I’ve so looked forward to this day!

It’s been 10 months of steady challenging mind boggling work but I’m so proud of my dedication to this little farm!!!

Shouts out to Wink Davis, .love.is.all.you.need and so many more volunteers that have supported me and to my dearly loving mother for your endless love of my crazy endeavors and my sweet daddy too.
