80 cubic yards of compost dropped and spread this weekend! It was a a miracle to witness and direct! Thank you and new friends Shelly and Don and family! Wow this community is really showing up for us! 💕🥰💃🐛

Turning a yard into a working farm! Wow. My heart has maybe never been this full. The flow of life is carrying us with Her and the energy of Yes is our guiding force.

This week (on my birthday 🥳) we broke ground on building a pond on our property! The pond will capture water from rain, rainwater from our house roof and the high tunnel…. To serve as irrigation for the farm. And lots of new wildlife for us to enjoy. We are soooo excited!

Thank you dear Divine for your love and support and thank you dear friends and heart family for sharing in this joyful dream with us. We feel you all. Please keep shining your light with us. We feel so loved.

All we can do is continue to work on our innerselves and lead with Love.

Chop Wood, Carry Water. Continue to Love, Support and Nurture You and those around You.

Somehow I still believe every person on this planet and in this country is a Being of Love. No matter what they heard or believed from the TV screen.

Go out and be a light today. Try serving others from your Highest Self. Try finding compassion when someone doesn’t show up the way you want them to. Try taking the higher path (of love) when someone hurts you.

And most importantly Believe in Love and Magic - it’s all around you. We all have our own interpretation of those words and energy. Just keep believing.

Meet Sandy! is one gem of a woman. For the last two years she has come early to the farm on Wednesday mornings to wash all of the greens!!! Whether it’s hot or cold, Sandy dives into these big vats of beautiful greens and makes sure every round is perfectly clean and ready to sell. Thank you soooooo much! It takes alot of trust and you are the perfect person for this job. I appreciate you. 🥰🥕💗💗💗💗

Friends, we are dreaming, visioning, observing and building over here… our dream. I’ve been envisioning this for 7 years now. Thank you Goddess for the wind at my back, for the glow in my heart, for the heaps of community connections that appear.

I am leaning into the Yeses from the Universe. To keep dancing with my heart dream, to keep getting on my hands and knees in that soil, to keep wading thru this life dream. It feels so right. So in alignment with my purpose and for my deep desire to live in coherence with nature and all of life.

Meet Mary!! is an ultra-dedicated volunteer on the farm. Every week for 2 years she has harvested big loads of head lettuce for me with gratitude. She arrives to the farm with a huge smile and jumps right in. She is a delight to be around and her joyful presence is much appreciated.

THANK YOU from the fullness of my heart. I can’t say it too many times, I don’t know what I would do without you. 😍🥬😇🤗🙏🐛🐛😘😘

We are looking into digging/building a pond on our property to capture/hold rainwater for farm irrigation.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a company that digs ponds? Not an ornamental pond.

Most farms till their land each time they want to plant into the soil. There are many variations on tilling but it is common to use a tractor of some sort or at least a device you can push or run off of a battery to invert the soil and grind it up (in Simple terms).

I’ve decided to take my farm to the next level to bypass all of that. After our initial tilling process to break up the grass, we started bringing in fresh leaf compost to cover the ENTIRE 1/3 acre plot!

This nutrient dense compost will allow me to plant directly into it! It will lay right on top of the existing soil and allow me to utilize a system. I’m really excited!

It is more material than I have ever worked with (180 cubic yards 😜) so calling in friends with a tractor was necessary to move these huge loads of compost around the plot. We didn’t want to drive the tractor inside the areas where beds will be formed to reduce compaction. Sooooo tmrw 12 volunteers will help me manually spread this first load onto 3 zones that will become 30 beds.

HEARTFELT ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!

As I sit here finally warm and dry after working in torrential downpours at Loving Roots Urban Farm today, I'm feeling especially grateful for this Life. And I want to share some BIG, MUCH AWAITED, DREAM-FILLED news with all of you! Thanks for listening! I hope this sparks some joy in each of you that reads this.

To sum it up... I'm on the verge of waking up to my work being
AT MY HOME!! For most of you, separating work and home is important ... something you strive for. Well, for me it is nearly the opposite.

My Beloved Dirk Hennessey and I finally found and purchased our dream home on 10 acres of land in Illinois - VERY NEAR St Louis! We searched, strategized, dreamed about and strived for this for years! And the good old saying "Patience is a Virtue" was proven true again. WE FOUND IT!! Actually, I feel it found us..... :).

For the last 5 years, I have driven from Shaw to Ferguson everyday to run a delicate little lettuce farm.... and it served me well for SO long! What a blessing the land at EarthDance Organic Farm School has been - a true gem and gift - where I started my business and thrived. Being in community there has been so wholesome and supportive and truly joyful. THANK YOU!

But, now I get to create the farm of my dreams on my own land!! Early farm walks with coffee (with Dirk Hennessey), beds and beds of bright beautiful greens and flowers and veg glistening outside our windows, harvesting in the early light, walking to work :), watching the magic take place right in front of me - the bucolic dream I've envisioned for SO long! The time is now.

As we create this farmstead together, I hope to share updates with you all along the way.... a grassy yard will transition to a farm operation (still called Loving Roots Urban Farm) over the next number of months while I continue to operate at Earthdance... with the plan to begin planting my first seeds "at home" March 2025.

Thank you God, Goddess, friends, family, mentors and everyone involved in this lengthy process. Knowing many of you might be a part of the process of farm creation in the coming months is truly exciting - we need tons of help! Visions, designs, construction, land prep, laborers, supporters, builders, etc.... MANIFESTATION.
