Here are a few Valentine’s pet safety tips to keep in mind:

-Keep chocolate, candy, and treats with xylitol far out of reach—they’re toxic to pets!
-Watch out for flowers like lilies, which are especially dangerous for cats.
-Be mindful of lit candles and decorations that curious paws might knock over.
-Secure ribbons, strings, and wrappers to avoid accidental ingestion.

URGENT: FOR PETS WITH MICROCHIPS

We have been informed that Save This Life (STL), the national pet microchip company, has ceased operations suddenly without notice. They have unlinked their database from the national registries. This means if your pet’s microchip is registered with STL, there is no way for any shelter or veterinary hospital to find your information if your pet becomes lost. There are three alternative companies where you can register your pet’s microchip: PetLink, HomeAgain, and AKC Reunite (use the same microchip number for registration). You can email our office at [email protected] or text us at 904-849-2183 for your pet’s chip number and to find out if it is a STL chip. We are actively exploring alternative suppliers for our microchips and will keep you updated as we learn more.
