Motor City Possum Rescue Motor City Possum Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting wildlife.

We are a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to caring for injured and orphaned wildlife. Our goal is to eventually release back in to their natural environment. While our primary focus is opossum, we intake other small mammals as well. (negative comments will be deleted and those posters will be blocked)

We currently have several cottontails in our care for long term treatment due to being hit by cars, dog attacks, and cat attacks. They have been degloved, have broken limbs, severe head trauma or all the above. While bunnies are notorious for being difficult to rehab, they always deserve a chance at life.

One of the cottontails in our care is Sunshine. She came to us in September after being HBC. She had some degloving on her hind end, a broken tail and a dangling hind leg with an open fracture. Despite our efforts, she refused to wear a wrap. It stressed her out too much. Instead, we adjusted her enclosure and gave her all the care she needed to help in her healing process. Her leg has successfully remodeled itself and she will be ready for a Spring release. ❀️

This sad little guy was picked up in Ferndale. Cold wet and shivering. We warmed him up and syringe fed him. Banana baby food works every time!

Our little rat trap possum from Westland is making progress. He still has some recovery ahead but he’s coming around.

We recently had a large tree massacre in our area. This is a successful reunification of a mom and her babies. We were fortunate enough to have some caring tree cutters alert us so that we could assist. We put the nest with the babies in a box so she could find them. She relocated all 3 of them. Squirrel moms are the best moms. They usually have extra hide outs just in case ❀️. We are relieved that these babies were not orphaned. ❀️❀️❀️

8 little crack eyes ❀️. They’re being tube fed 5 times a day. Next step will be the lick mat. AN EASTER MIRACLE (Squirrel version) Jared came to us in early December after being hit by a car. His prognosis was guarded at best. After almost 4 months in our care, he was released back into the wild this morning. These are the stories that make what we do worth it. ❀️❀️

Babies on board

Our mange raccoon is getting his FUZZ on. We’ve seen an increase in mange this year, likely due to the warm winter. It’s not hard to treat but it requires several months of captivity which causes stress and anxiety. He has at least another month before we can consider a release. In the meantime he’s getting first class service with a smile πŸ˜Šβ€¦.. (🫀 he’s not impressed πŸ˜–πŸ˜‚)
