🐈‍⬛ BORN IN OUR CLINIC ON MAMA'S "SPAY DAY"

🐈‍⬛ Our "Spay Day Surprise" kittens were born at Spay Neuter Northwest in a crate to a mama cat who was obviously advanced pregnant. (This of course was not relayed to us). When it came time to be weighed and have her presurgical exam Dr. Monroe heard teeny meows... SURPRISE!!!

🐈‍⬛ Committed to help both causes we fostered the mama (per owners request) and the kittens in one of our experienced loving foster homes until the kittens were weaned and ready for adoption. Through our SNNW Last Litter Program Mama was spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated with Revolution at no charge. Then placed back with her owner🥰 WIN WIN!!!

🐈‍⬛ I cannot believe these two SPAY DAY SURPRISE kittens remain... The Sweet "Spay"lor Swift (Swifty)and the Lovey Lady "Spay"Ga (Lady) are waiting for their forever home/s. ***JoJo ADOPTED***. When they are not purring... they play and play, they make us laugh, they love and cuddle with us, and they are our sweet little friends. Of course we are biased but SNNW kittens are sooooo amazing and social!!! If you are interested in adopting please submit our adoption interest application using the following link. https://forms.gle/NmEfDjdn9QAzQCi68

🐈‍⬛ Adoption includes spay, negative FeLV/FIV test, current FVCRP vaccination, deworming, current flea treatment with Revolution, and microchip. $150/single or $250/pair adoption fee.

What is an Ear Tip? Why Ear Tip? Does It Hurt?

We love when posts stimulate discussion and questions to help educate our community. As commonplace as an ear tip is in our world it still remains unknown to many.

What is an ear tip? If you’ve noticed an outdoor cat with a the top portion of its ear (typically the left) missing this is the sign of a cat who is cared for. An ear tip is the universally recognized symbol of a cat who has been spayed or neutered and vaccinated through a TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) program.

Why Ear Tip? Ear tipping is a standard part of most TNR programs because it is simply the best method to let a person know, at a glance, that a cat has gone through a TNR program. Ear tips are a critical safeguard for feral or outdoor community cats. Ear tips can be seen from a distance so no matter who interacts with the cat they can all tell that the cat has an outdoor home. This is a big deal when it comes to animal control agencies and shelters because having an ear tip could prevent an unsocialized outdoor cat from being admitted to a shelter. Lastly, during an active TNR, ear tips allow easy identification of cats who have already been altered. Therefore, they can be released back to their colony.

Does it hurt? Because feral cats are ear tipped while they are under anesthesia for their spay/neuter surgery everything is safe, clean, and painless. In addition, all feral cats are administered an injection of pain control medication. The ear heals quickly and no further attention is needed.

Pictured are two gorgeous feral cats that have been part of Spay Neuter Northwest TNR program. Notice their left ear tip.
