What a bittersweet end for these fellas. ❤️
Jeff Goodman is a local man who has been looking for his chocolate lab, Chance, for about a year now, unfortunately there has been no sign of him for a while but Jeff still looks daily.

This lab we had found on the side of the road, a happy-go-lucky boy with a big heart and big appetite! On Christmas Eve, we contacted Jeff to see if this boy was Chance. He immediately hopped in his truck to check out this boy. Unfortunately, it was not the beloved Chancey dog, however, these two had such a connection immediately. Jeff crouched on the ground holding this loveable lab in his arms and oh man did this pup eat it up!
We agreed to both help find his owners, but have had no success for a bit.
We still wanted to search for his owners, but upon my surprise, a local had said this boy had been roaming for weeks. Was he that lost? Was he dumped? We have no idea.

Today, Jeff came by the facility and took this boy home. The dog loved on him just as he did on Christmas Eve, tail wagging and all smiles!
We are happy to have this small part of their journey and hope they have the best life together, bringing in new memories and joy into the new year!! We still will search for Chancey dog and this dog’s owners, and if you have any information on either please reach out 🙏🏼
Until then, we wish these two the best new year possible with all the pup cuddles and treats, and a warm bed! Happy New Year! 🎈

The first time I met Jack, he immediately barked at me and his owners struggled to gain back control. He is a young German shepherd with a lot of energy and had big reactivity issues. He struggled to settle in the house as well. After a few sessions we have established a solid place command and have gained control on leash! He has a bit of nerve to him as well, but so proud of how he worked through his emotions today while around my dog, Ichigo!

A "place" command for dogs is a great training technique that teaches them to go to a designated spot and stay there until given a release cue. It's helpful for giving your dog a specific area to relax, which can be especially useful in situations like meal times, when guests visit, or when you need your dog to stay put for a moment. It provides them with a comfortable and defined space, making them feel secure while also keeping them out of potentially troublesome situations.

It’s HOT this week! 🥵
Make sure your pups are staying cool and enjoy the AC inside.
If your dog is outside for a long period of time, here are some signs of overheating in dogs:

1. Excessive Panting: Dogs pant to regulate their body temperature, but if it becomes excessive or frantic, it might indicate overheating.

2. Excessive Drooling: Drooling more than usual can be a sign of heat stress in dogs.

3. Restlessness: If your dog is pacing, unable to settle down, or seems agitated, it could be due to overheating.

4. Bright Red Gums and Tongue: An overheated dog might have bright red gums and a tongue that looks darker or more intense in color.

5. Vomiting or Diarrhea: Heatstroke can lead to gastrointestinal distress and vomiting.

6. Weakness or Collapse: If your dog
suddenly becomes weak, wobbly, or collapses, it could be a serious sign of overheating.

7. Rapid Heart Rate: An elevated heart rate can be an indicator of heat stress.

8. Dry Nose and Gums: If your dog’s nose and gums are dry to the touch, it might suggest dehydration from overheating.

9. Excessive Lethargy: If your dog seems unusually tired, sluggish, or unresponsive, it could be due to heat exhaustion.

10. Glazed Eyes: Eyes that appear glazed or lackluster can be a sign that your dog is not feeling well.

If you suspect your dog is overheating, it’s important to take immediate action. Move them to a cooler area, offer fresh water, and wet their body with cool (not cold) water. If symptoms persist, contact your veterinarian as heatstroke can be life-threatening. Prevention is key—ensure your dog has access to shade, water, and never leave them in a hot car.

Hi everyone! We have some big news. Valahalik Dog Training will be on temporary hold as I move states for a training opportunity. I want to thank every one of you for all of the support and friendship I have gained along the way💕

Moving forward, we will not be taking any new clients and will be focusing on sport work and German shepherds. If you are interested to watch our journey please follow on Zangetsu German Shepherds! We will have litters in the future as well 😊
