Honey bees are opportunistic and will take advantage of any food source
The dust from cracked corn contains pollen-sized particles and yeast that bees collect and take back to their hives
Corn has a high sugar content, which helps sustain bees during the winter
We’ll put out corn until the bees are gone
Steve drove all the way from El Centro California which is nearly 700 miles away to spend 24 hours helping us here at the farm. He knew I had been struggling with the rain and wind that has caused damage to fencing upon multiple other issues. the quad was broke down. The barns are a wreck. Now that’s the ultimate dedication to your animals isn’t it. He’ll be gone another few months after he leaves tomorrow at noon. Thank you Steve for caring so much. Remington is very happy to see him as you can see but he’s not too fond of coffee.
I can’t get enough of little Dizzy
We miss Bub so much
Bubs chimes are reminding us this morning, he’s still in our hearts
Ken
Ken is doing well despite his old wing break. He cannot fly but he can bounce around. He’s super hyper. I would be too if I lived in a gross cage alone since he was a chick. He seems to get along with all the hens and 3 roosters that are on the side. He’s calmer here. It’s bedtime and he’s trying to figure out what to do. He’s pretty cool I like his personality.
Are you warm enough Violet
I’m not sure I put enough straw in the goat barn? 😆🙄
Miss P
Getting ready for the temps to drop
Sweet baby
UPDATE Serenity is her name now . They think she may be a premie, has pneumonia and is dehydrated. She can’t really figure out how to nurse. They are giving her fluids and want to do a plasma infusion tonight. They are concerned she didn’t get much colostrum so the plasma infusion will give her some antibodies. And probably antibiotics. There going to test for communicable diseases. If anyone can donate we would appreciate it. The estimate is $1300-$1900 and she’ll be hospitalized for a week

So great when everybody comes together to save a life. We were contacted by a local couple who had found this lamb wandering in their driveway. No Mom in sight. It’s been a while since we’ve had any babies around, so I was unprepared, but needed to make sure this little one received the care she needed. So I said bring her on over. I Immediately posted in my sanctuary groups to find help and within an hour we had this little one on her way to UC Davis for care, and then off to sanctuary in Sacramento. I’m so grateful for my rescue community.
Lily
Lily is so soft. She rarely lets me touch her so this is a treat for me
