Creeping up on $17K in balances in our showroom not paid for……again. With the projects almost finished it’ll be more like $25-30K very soon……again.
Now, some are newly finished and I’m not concerned yet and some have communicated with me and will be fine. Not worried about you folks.
But there’s too many that have been here for too long and I’ve been told “I can’t afford it right now” or “maybe you shouldn’t have taken so long”.
To the people that can’t afford it right now….make payments! 🤷‍♂️
To the people that want to play games because “it took too long”, especially if you have more work here….we will not be mounting your new work until it’s paid in full, along with your finished balances.
I have never in almost 17 years had this much issue getting paid. It’s like people think we haven’t felt inflation too. 🤨 if you only knew.
I know we got backed up and it took too long to get some of this stuff done. But everyone’s backed up. We don’t do this for a hobby. I have employees to pay….a business to run.
So, I just wanted to make a post and maybe light a fire under someone’s ass….(sorry, not sorry). But also remind people of our new payments, etc that we started last fall.
We no longer take 50% down. We take 1/3 down.
When your skins get back from the tannery we will do nothing else with them until we receive another 1/3. I will let you know and then it’s up to you. I’m not going to keep reminding you. First people to get their second 1/3 in, are the first pieces to get worked on.
And then the last 1/3 is due within 30 days of completion. If not, we will add 3% every 30 days until it’s paid for or I decide to send you a certified letter and sell your piece. I’m too lenient and have never sold a piece….never really had to honestly, and don’t want to. But it’s time.
Besides the money, we don’t have room to store everyone’s stuff.
So far this has been working better. Eventually, if people still think this is a joke and they can pay whenever they get around to it, we will start requiring the remaining balance be paid before it gets mounted….we have plenty to do that people pay for.
We do high end work and we charge for it. And we make a living doing it. And we’re extremely busy and I don’t have time to be chasing people down. I don’t mean to be offensive, but if you can’t afford it, don’t bring it. I’m sorry. We’re not for everyone and that’s ok.

The team and I are cranking some work out and going to be through all our backlog soon and be getting to the point where newer stuff is getting done relatively quick, considering all the wait times we deal with…..and we’re going to be fighting to even find room to store stuff going forward here. So please come and get it.

Sorry for the rant but sometimes it needs to be said.

Couple of pretty little chicken killers

This is a bunch of photos of one of my competition pieces from this year.
Kindof funny story behind this cat…..my dad got this kitten from our game warden in 2008. It was a road kill but in beautiful shape….about perfect really.
I had it tanned way back then and have had it in a freezer ever since….been in the freezer a looonnngg time.
Fast forward and that game warden has retired and has been our skinner/skin prep guy at our studio for a few years now….Dan “the skinner man”. lol.
I havnt competed since the 2019 World Show, but employees kinda rousted me back into it this year. 😝….Madison Pilkington🙄
So I pulled this kitten out and put it together, along with a few other pieces.
It got a blue in the masters at our state championships and helped win the Best All Around there. Also brought it the the World Championships as my life size piece and scored a 93 in the masters, second place ribbon in my sub category, and helped win the Best All Around there as well.
Cute lil’ bu**er.
Was able to bring Madison and Keenan to the World Championships this year and get them (as well as myself) a little inspired. Little fired up. It’s good…..keeps you on your toes.
If youre not growing, you’re going backwards.

We’re back in the studio from the World Taxidermy Championships.
No world title, but came home with a
Best All Around and got to see several hundred awesome pieces…..and was able to bring two of our team members and introduce them to the taxidermy competition and show world. Great show.
Already brewing ideas for the next.
