PSA! The roads are *icy*, and we live on the main road of this county (therefore snow plows have been coming through). We just watched 2 trucks slide and lose control in front of our barn. Last snowstorm, a truck ran off the road and hit our barn fence. PLEASE, for your safety and the safety of our animals, drive only if necessary and drive *carefully*. Enjoy the snow ❄️ and stay safe! 🤍

Science 🧬 fun! From UC Davis, “Pearl is known to interact with cream dilution to produce what is been called pseudo-double cream dilute phenotypes including pale skin and blue/green eyes. The mutation responsible for the pearl dilution is located in the gene SLC45A2 (c.985G>A), the same gene that contains the cream mutation. Horses with one copy of the cream allele and one copy of the pearl allele are thus correctly termed compound heterozygotes.”

Nimbus is a palomino pearl, which is a red horse with a cream gene and a pearl gene. He also has agouti, making him able to sire buckskins with a black based mare. 💛

Pictured here at just 17-months-old, we have high hopes for this golden boy! He will be making his show debut this year and then we plan to stand him publicly in 2026 as a 3-year-old.⚡️ (It’s never too early to start planning your dream foal!) 🔮

Salem Saberhagen aka Prince Snaggle Tooth aka Throwaway Kitty (said with love)! Sweet Salem was dumped near our farm last summer. After seeing him on our road and unsuccessfully trying to catch him multiple days in a row, one of our Australian shepherds found him one morning underneath our truck. Truly clinging on to life, we rushed him to our amazing small animal vet, Dr. New. Salem was very anemic, emaciated, covered in fleas and ticks, and had been hit by at least one car, sustaining both a broken jaw and a broken leg. We heavily weighed the decision between humane euthanasia and giving him a fight for recovery. ❤️‍🩹 Well … needless to say, lots of TLC later, Salem now rules the roost! You can’t buy love, but you can rescue it. 🖤🐾🐈‍⬛ Here’s to 9 more lives, sweet Salem!

Good morning ☀️ and TGIF from newborn baby Branch! His mama had a dystocia, a difficult birth (triplets that were very tangled … we had to assist with delivery) and we decided to bring Branch inside and bottle feed him for now until he is strong enough to return to his mama and sisters. 🐐🐐🐐

Newborn mini alpine buck kids “Olaf” and “Sven”. If you’ve visited our farm before, you know how 90% of the creatures here have Disney names. 😂 (How can they not, with 3 little farmers!) Olaf at just 12 hours old already thinks that he is hot stuff. 🌶️

These little guys are looking for their new homes. 🏡 They can go anytime on the bottle! They will make exceptional, milky homestead herd sires or wonderful pets. MDGA registered F1 mini alpines! 💙💙
