It's coyote mating season and that means they are more active in urban areas which can put your fur friends at more risk. Do you know what to do to protect your dog?

A few years ago around this time NSYNC singer Lance Bass lost his beloved dog Lily Dimples after she was killed by coyotes in his backyard, despite the yard being "coyote proofed". As coyotes are more active right now, hunting for food, here are a few helpful tips on how to protect your dogs.

- keep all garbage tightly secured
