It’s going to be a warm few days! Remember that even though your air conditioner is cooling your home down nicely, it does so by pulling moisture from the air. Make sure to leave plenty of hydration options out for your cats - fresh water bowls strategically placed, maybe offer chilled bone broth, tuna juice or chicken broth. I’ve been told that ice cubes in a water dish helps curious kitties stay interested in water. Also a previously dampened and frozen hand towel offered for a cool place to lay next to may be helpful as well.
Even if you don’t have air conditioning - providing the above may help your cat stay cool. Also - closing your blinds, running a fan and cracking a screened window should help. Do you have an especially cool place your cat likes to hang out in? I know our kitchen floor is a favorite around my home!
Take care and don’t forget that cats tend to tolerate warm weather much better than we do!

Dr. Smith and a family of clients serendipitously crossed paths while on vacation in Florence! We told their kitties boarding with us that their family said hello, and they said, "What's an 'Italy,' and when's lunch?"

The OTHER Dr. Smith is the running for Westminster Veterinarian of the Year. I have no clue why I did not make the short list; everybody knows that a World Renowned Cat Doctor is the obvious choice for this kind of award, but there you go.

Bubba has nearly fully recovered, his people have fetched him, and he will now be cared for at home!

Bubba (still not his real name) has improved nicely during his first 24 hours. His fever has dropped to almost normal, and his attitude has improved to almost defiant. He is, however, completely ungrateful for all the kind thoughts.
