Yesterday was National Australian Shepherd Day so we are sharing a few facts about Aussies for this Fun Fact Friday!

Australian Shepherds were a popular choice of herding dog for ranchers in the Western United States and were mostly unknown outside of the livestock industry until the mid-20th century. A rodeo performer named Jay Sisler introduced them to the public at rodeos across the west and his trick dogs often starred in movies as well. His Aussies were also some of the foundation dogs for the breed when they became recognized by the UKC in 1979 and then by the AKC in 1991.

Since 2023, Aussies have become the 12th most popular dog in the United States! If you have an Australian Shepherd, share them below! 🐾🤠
