Did you know that we have a referral coordinator? Liv specializes in building and maintaining strong relationships with the referring veterinarians in our area while also contributing to the marketing team.

Liv has been at VCA for five years where she spent most of that time working as a physical rehabilitation technician. She knows our hospital very well and is always willing to help clients, patients, and referring vets in any way possible.

We have exciting news!

AVCC is happy to announce the addition of Dr. Haley Jost (ophthalmology), Dr. Natalia Jurcak (medical oncology), and Dr. Matthew Price (internal medicine).

Read below to learn about our new docs!

Dr. Jost is originally from the Indianapolis area and is excited to return home. She attended Purdue University for both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees. During this time, she had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Budelsky as a veterinary student, which helped foster her love of ophthalmology. After graduation, she completed a rotating internship at the University of Georgia, followed by a specialty internship at BluePearl in Clearwater and Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Jost completed her comparative ophthalmology residency at Colorado State University, where she became an avid hiker with her husband. She loves all animals, and has extensive experience with both large and small animal species, along with exotics. Dr. Jost has a particular interest in corneal diseases, corneal surgery, and exotic ophthalmology, which is a niche service she will be offering at AVCC! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, coffee shops, and spending time outdoors with her husband, dog, and two cats.

Dr. Jurcak is originally from the Northeast but considers the Midwest home. She is a big Buckeye fan having graduated from The Ohio State University for her undergraduate and veterinary degrees. After veterinary school, she completed her rotating internship here at VCA AVCC, followed by an oncology specialty internship at Auburn University. She then returned to Ohio State to complete her residency in medical oncology and is finishing up a master’s in Translational Pharmacology. Dr. Jurcak enjoys helping her patients and their families through a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Jurcak can be found trying new coffee shops and cheering on OSU sports with her fiancé, enjoying the pool whenever possible, and spending time with her two bunnies.

Dr. Matthew Price was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. He obtained an undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia. Following that, he went to the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine where he developed an interest in internal medicine. After graduating from veterinary school, he then completed both a rotating internship and residency in small animal internal medicine at NC State. Dr. Price is particularly interested in gastrointestinal disease and immune-mediated conditions. In his free time he enjoys working out, spending time with his pets (2 dogs and a cat), cooking, and watching movies.

Dr. Jurcak and Dr. Price will start their journey with us on August 26th, 2024 while Dr. Jost will begin shortly after on September 8th, 2024. Let's get you on the books! Call us at 317-578-4100 to set up a consultation today. They look forward to working with you!

Obtaining quality, diagnostic radiographs while keeping our patients calm, comfortable, and safe is our goal every time we enter the radiology suite – but that isn’t our only goal. We want to always keep our team members safe and minimize or remove them from direct radiation exposure. Wearing the proper personal protective equipment and practicing hands-free radiology positioning techniques help accomplish both of these goals. These sandbags and tape are used for positioning but do not compromise the patients and help them feel secure and comfortable. VCA AVCC is putting hands-free radiology into action.

Who is Dylan? He is a nearly 10 1/2-year-old Boxer that has inspired us all with his perseverance and love. He first came to VCA AVCC in November 2019 when he underwent his first spinal tumor surgery in the spinal cord of his neck. His surgery was followed by rounds of radiation treatments, and he seemed to recover well. In March 2021 he returned due to recurring pain and trouble walking. The imaging and neurology departments repeated his MRI ,which revealed the tumor had regrown. He underwent a second surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. His recovery this time around proved to be the much more challenging, as he was unable to walk, sit up, or even roll himself upright when laying down. He only had a small amount of movement in his right front leg right after his surgery. Dylan started intensive, daily rehabilitation, and he is now able to walk, gallop, and do his boxer bounce on his own! Dylan certainly is a rock star, but his success can be attributed to the collaborative effort of his wonderful owners Greg and Carol, many of our doctors, and scores of technicians and assistants throughout the entire hospital. Dylan loves showing off for his adoring fans here at AVCC, so we decided to have a parade for him to celebrate his hard work!
