Meet Waffle, the sweet, fluffy, orange-and-white gentleman who’s as comforting as a Sunday morning breakfast. 🧡

Waffle is a family-friendly cat who’s lived peacefully with dogs and kids. He’s all about soft pets, greenie treats, stuffed mice, kitty tunnels, and of course a good snack.

He’s currently in a foster home, doing his best to stay hopeful, but he’s starting to worry he might be overlooked because of his age and an FIV+ diagnosis. The truth? With regular vet care and a loving, indoor-only life, plenty of FIV+ cats can live long, happy, healthy lives, and Waffle is ready to thrive!

Have you ever felt like the world expects too much from you before you’re ready? Cupid gets it. He’s been trying his best. But it’s been a rough road, and adoption hasn’t gone the way he hoped.

Nevertheless, he still greets each day with hope because deep down, he believes there’s someone out there for him. And we do too.

Cupid is a true lovebug. At around two and a half years old, he’s a big lap dog who lives for snuggles and couch time. He wants to be close and will lean in with his whole body like he’s trying to melt into you. He’s goofy, affectionate, and food-motivated. He wants to be okay. He just needs the right person and a little time to get there.

He’s done well with kids in the past, including a baby who adored him. He’s also open to a meet and greet with other dogs, but he is looking for a cat-free home. Most of all, he needs someone who won’t expect perfection on day one. Someone steady. Someone kind.

For 447 days, this sweet 12-year-old has watched other cats come and go, wondering if his turn will ever come. Sir Gus isn’t asking for much, just a cozy home, a sunny window, and someone to love him as much as he wants to love you.

Sir Gus is diabetic, but he’s never let it hold him back. His condition is well-controlled with a special diet and regular insulin, and as far as senior cats go, he still has a spring in his step.

Mercedes is breaking our hearts.

She’s not meant to live in a shelter. She’s the kind of dog who needs people close, and when she doesn’t have that, her heart starts to break a little more each day. She leans her head into our legs, melts into our laps, and tries to make the world feel okay again. But it’s not enough. What she needs is a home.

Mercedes is just over a year old. She does well with other dogs, has done fine meeting kids, and is crate trained. She’s an active girl who also knows the value of a soft blanket and a cozy bed. But all the love in the world can’t make a loud, lonely kennel feel like home.

There are 23 cities in the U.S. named Paris, but the most beautiful Paris of all is waiting at Hamilton Humane. 💖

She was found near 126th & Hazel Dell, and while no one came looking for Paris, it’s hard to believe she’s been on her own for long. This five-year-old Siamese mix is as affectionate as they come. From the moment she arrived, she’s been rolling over for pets, leaning in for chin scratches, and purring like she’s known you forever.

She’s equal parts grace and heart-melter. One staff member called her “beautiful” so many times, Paris probably thinks it’s her real name.

Now spayed, settled, and ready to love someone new, Paris is waiting at HSHC. Don’t miss your chance to meet her!

Some wonderful pets went home recently, and we couldn't be more excited for them to have been given a chance to know love and happiness!

We’ve posted Axel before. We’ve begged, pleaded, hoped. And still, he’s here.
Watching people walk by. Waiting for someone to stop. 💔

Through all the noise and heartbreak, there’s been one thing keeping him going: a specific brand of toy. He carries it like a baby. He chews it when he’s nervous. He rests his head on it when he needs comfort. It’s not just a toy. It’s the one thing helping him hang on.

We told the toy company about Axel and how much their toy has meant to him in these tough months. They sent him brand new ones, just for him. Because they saw what we see: that he matters.

🐾 Meet Sky & Snow: Bonded Brothers Seeking a Second Chance 🐾

Four years ago, Sky and Snow were found as tiny stray kittens and adopted from HSHC as soon as they were big enough to leave the shelter. For four years, they had a home, a routine, and someone to love them. But last month, their world turned upside down when their owner moved away and brought them back to us. 💔

But at least one thing stayed the same; they still have each other.

Since returning, Sky and Snow have been inseparable, comforting each other through their sadness and confusion. It's been difficult to convince Snow to come out of hiding, but once both cats have the chance to come out of their shell, they can't get enough affection from anyone who stops by for a visit. When I sat quietly in their roaming room Sky even came right up to me for some nice chin scratches.

Sky and Snow are a bonded pair who must be adopted together, and after everything they’ve been through, we couldn’t dream of separating them. If you’re looking for two gentle companions to keep you company, Sky and Snow might just be the perfect cats for you.

🎉 We want to wish Dr. Mark Roth a very happy 75th birthday! A true cat lover, his beloved late cat Cozmo's statue is the first feline to greet our guests in the HSHC lobby. The "Roth Family Feline Adoption Center" is filled with our adoptable kitties as they wait for their forever homes. Most recently, Dr. Roth's Frosted Faces Program has helped increase visibility for our senior animals, dogs and cats, by providing their adopters with a senior care package.

We hope Dr. Roth gets to enjoy a relaxing day of cat naps with his cats and maybe a special meal at Olive Garden, his personal favorite!
