Our $10 adoption event has started and we are so excited and hopeful for all these people lining up and for all the dogs and cats waiting to find a forever home. The event will be from 12-5pm today!
💔 Meet Ashton. A 3-year-old dog who has already endured more pain and heartache than any dog should. Adopted from us, Ashton’s first family struggled to make it work. He was high-energy, with a strong prey drive and a tendency to escape, no matter how high the fence. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to manage his behavior. They also had young children and didn’t realize how overwhelming Ashton would be for their growing family.In August 2024, they made the heartbreaking decision to rehome Ashton, hoping he would find peace with a new family.But what Ashton found was far from safe. He was later found in a vacant apartment, where he was purposefully trapped with another animal. The cruelty he faced was intentional, and Ashton was left injured, terrified, and traumatized by the abuse he endured.Ashton was rushed to a vet for care, but the damage he suffered will take time to heal.Ashton is a sweet, loving, velcro dog who just wants to be with you. Despite everything he’s been through, he craves connection and love. He is ready to heal and find the unconditional love and stability he deserves. Could you be the one to give him that chance?
Meet Maya, a gentle 12-year-old soul longing for a second chance. Her soft cries in the kennel spoke volumes, and we were lucky to place her in a loving foster home to give her some peace. But it’s only temporary—Maya needs a forever family where she can finally settle in for good.
Maya is:
- Housebroken and crate-trained
- Well-mannered, knowing commands like “sit,” “come,” “down,” and “stay”
- Great with kids and open to meeting other dogs (though she’d prefer a cat-free home)

When she first arrived at HSHC as a stray, she was absolutely petrified, doing everything she could to protect herself. But with patience and gentle care, she’s blossomed into a loyal, loving girl who now seeks out cuddles and adores her favorite people.
Mama Mia would love a calm, feline-free home with teens where she can keep learning and growing with activities like puzzle games and scent work. She’s looking for adopters who will let her take things at her own pace and continue building her confidence in a safe, understanding environment.

Meet Jeremy and Barry: Two Adoptable Pups Ready to Find Their Forever Homes! 🐶❤️
Check out this adorable video of Jeremy and Barry, who just became best friends during their time at the shelter!
First up is Jeremy, the charming grey pup who’s a lovable 2-year-old. He’s all about belly rubs and having fun. Jeremy is a little prankster, often tossing his toys over the fence just to watch you go fetch them! He would thrive in a home with teens (16+) who can appreciate his goofy side. Jeremy prefers a feline-free home, but if you have another dog, let’s set up a meet and greet at the shelter to see if they hit it off!
Then there’s Barry, our energetic 10-month-old toy enthusiast! His motto is simple: TOYS. ARE. LIFE! Whether it’s a squeaky ball or a stuffed animal, Barry is always ready for playtime. He’s excited for a fresh start with a family that loves his silly spirit.
Both boys are clearly dog-friendly and would love to meet your resident pups! Bring them along for a meet and greet at the shelter. Let’s help Jeremy and Barry find their forever families—these lovable guys need homes stat! 🏡💕
