It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of Trixie today. Initially, her treatment protocol and surgical procedure to help resolve her GI issues seemed to improve her condition. She was eating well and showing signs of progress.

Over the past couple days, however, Trixie started to decline again. She refused to eat (which is very unlike her), and her liver values began to decline. The medical team treating her felt that with these changes, as well as how bad her condition was upon arrival, that her frail body simply could not fight anymore.

All of you who donated toward her care made it possible for us to give Trixie a fighting chance. We know you share in our profound sadness of having to let her go.

You were loved, Trixie, in your short time with our staff, as well as the incredible medical team who tried so hard to save you. Rest in heaven sweet girl.

Ready to Hibernate with a Snuggle Expert? Meet Miss Sissy! ❄️🐾

While everyone else is braving the cold, 5-year-old Miss Sissy has mastered the fine art of staying in. Her days in foster are filled with soft blankets, long snoozes, and plenty of snuggles.

Her foster says it best: "She is the best dog and is very low maintenance. Totally housebroken, no accidents at all and has never chewed on or damaged anything. She is very chill and has not had any issues with being left alone. She has free roam of the house when I am gone and at night."

In a quiet home, this gentle girl truly shines. She loves sunny spots for her daytime naps, squeaky toys for short bursts of fun, and curling up beside her person when it’s time to call it a night (which, in her world, is often).

Miss Sissy would love to be your one and only. No other pets, just her and her favorite humans. She’s hoping for a laid-back home with grown-ups who enjoy peaceful company and the kind of comfort that comes from simply being together.

How many days does it take to get a Tootsie pop adopted? She's starting to think the world may never know. 😿

Tootsie is a 3-year-old beauty who's been through more than most cats her age. 💔 Originally found as a stray, Tootsie finally thought she’d found her home, but it wasn't long before her previous owners decided she wasn't the right fit.

Now she’s back with us, and we can tell you one thing for sure: Tootsie is exactly the right fit for someone out there. ❤️ She’s the perfect mix of playful and affectionate, the kind of cat who's content to fetch a toy mouse or curl up on your chest for good nap as long as she can stay by your side. 🐭💤

Tootsie's greatest highlights?
🐕👶🏼 She lived peacefully in a home with adults and kids of all ages.
🐾 She's a polite houseguest who prefers cardboard scratchers to couch cushions.

From Frightened to Fabulous: Meet Jasmine! ❤️

When Jasmine first came to the shelter, she was so frightened that we quickly moved her into foster care, hoping a quiet home would help her heart heal. And wow, did it ever. ❤️‍🩹

Her foster mom says, “Jasmine is such a sweet and funny dog. One of my favorite things about her is that she often greets me with a toy or blanket in her mouth. She is a huge wiggle butt and exudes happiness. Also, she has earned the name ‘Jazz Butt’ because she prefers to slide off the couch instead of jumping down, which results in her sticking her butt up in the air and it is very funny.”

This 8-year-old senior sweetheart absolutely adores her orange Chuck-It ball, car rides, and curling up for cozy naps right beside her favorite person. She’s housebroken, knows a few commands, and is even cat-approved! Walks can still feel a little overwhelming, but in a familiar space, her playful personality shines. Jasmine has lived with young children and did wonderfully, and she would love a home where she can have her own little spot to retreat to when she wants some quiet time. Potential adopters can bring their dogs for a meet-and-greet, and our team will happily help with introductions so everyone feels comfortable.

🐾 Meet Binky: A Longtime HSHC Resident Still Dreaming of Home🐾
9-Year-Old Cat For Adoption | She's waited for almost 250 days

After spending eight years with a loving family, Binky's world was turned upside down when she found herself at our shelter. Overwhelmed by the new smells, sounds, and strangers that surrounded her, Binky hoped she wouldn't stay long, but her dreams didn't live up to reality.

Binky has waited nearly 250 days in the shelter, and no one has come to take her home. Every day she watches as people come and go, but she doesn’t have the heart to say hi anymore.

She can be pretty cautious of the world around her, but with patience, time, and just enough love, we know Binky will become a wonderful, loving companion to her chosen people.

A few things to know about Binky:
- She prefers to be the only pet in the home
- She is most comfortable in calm, peaceful home with a good routine
- She LOVES treats and string toys

Binky may take her time to fall in love again, but if you can open your heart and home to this beautiful girl, she will reward you with a lifetime of loving companionship. To meet Binky, come by the shelter to meet her! Adoption hours are 12-5 PM daily, closed Wednesdays.
