Alexa is an amazing, talented Certified Veterinary Technician, and the Lantern Road team is so grateful that she chose to work with us this last year. She even moved from Ohio to continue her passion of working with patients (and the cool team at Lantern Road).

Alexa graduated from The Vet Tech Institute at International Business College, and she then passed the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam). Not only is she a talented CVT, but she is also quite talented with crafts and acting in plays. Alexa is also one of those that puts a smile on your face or makes you laugh, without even trying. The team is very grateful for her! She lives an adventurous life with her two kitties, Sage and Aster.

Thank you, Alexa, for all your hard work and dedication to working with patients and clients!

Meet Jenna, our team's Vet Tech Supervisor!

Jenna’s love for animals started at a very young age. Jenna attended Harrison College for her degree in veterinary technology and passed her test to become a registered veterinary technician. Jenna’s main focus has, for the most part, been in general practice. She is passionate about creating bonds with both her clients and patients and keeping them healthy and happy! Jenna has three fur-kids of her own - Wilson (Australian shepherd), Suzy (Chihuahua), and Talley (Siamese cat). You may recognize Wilson from the clinic's previous posts. In her free time Jenna enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping and cooking.

During the third week of October, we celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week. This week we want to recognize, honor, and advocate for the invaluable contributions Credentialed Veterinary Technicians make to the veterinary profession and society.

Did you know that a CVT is responsible for a variety of tasks, including but definitely not limited to: educate clients, laboratory work, perform and oversee anesthesia, perform dental prophylaxis, surgical prep, clinical care for patients (whether a wellness visit or an emergency), diagnostic imaging, and the list goes on!

If you are lucky to know or engage with a CVT this week, please thank them for all that they do! The world of veterinary medicine would not be the same without them - "Credentialed Veterinary Technicians Change Lives".

This past Saturday, the VCA Lantern Road Animal Hospital team volunteered at a local event, Fisher's Safety Day. The event is one way that Fishers Fire and Emergency Services is working to educate the public and provide opportunities to improve overall health and wellness in the city of Fishers.
The team provided education on disaster preparation kits for pets, including several VCA giveaway items that can be utilized in the kit. Those that stopped by the table also received a "Pet Alert Safety sticker" for their home so that they may indicate what pets and how many pets are in their home if they ever encounter an emergency.
The turnout of the event was fantastic and so much fun - for the humans and pups! We want to thank the Fishers Fire & Emergency Services for having us!

Happy National Beagle Day! The most famous Beagle of all is an animated one, Snoopy, of Peanuts fame.
