When you love what you do…… well the smiles here say it all. It’s an honor to help so many pets here in the Hudson Valley. This handsome hunk weighing in at 122lbs was transported to Catskill Veterinary Services, PLLC where he will be regulated on insulin for his diabetes.

Weighing in at a strapping 220lbs, Mudge is one of our biggest patients! He is definitely a Mama’s boy so what do we do to make his transport less stressful? We let Mom come for the ride! What a big mush this boy was! He even fell in love with our mascot Mel!!!! Prayers for a full recovery Mudge!💙

Like seriously!?!? Can’t get much cuter than this lil’ guy. A suspected insect bite gave this little one a run for his money but Yorkies are tough! Lots of love, meds and oxygen was in order and he did great in our care!!! We transported this little Queen on oxygen therapy due to cardiac issues. But truthfully I feel she was smitten for Joe Steinfeld which made her time with VetMedics Inc.quite successful. It is often easier for us to deal with the dog end of the leash than the human end. We may be quite thorough in our exploration of why a dog behaves in certain ways, examining environment, handler interactions, genetic tendencies, nutrition, equipment, veterinary issues and more.

But when it comes to the other end of the leash, we may not have as much experience or even skill in thinking about human behavior. We might blame our clients, end up frustrated by what we see as their lack of compliance, or be puzzled by their inability to accept what we are telling them.

Or worse still, we can find ourselves in danger of burn-out. We give so much to each dog and client, pouring our hearts into trying to be helpful, only to watch a client opt to use old fashioned methods to get the quick fix.

“Why?” We wonder. “Why do they do that?”

Each being in the relationship has needs that motivate their behavior. It is no surprise that a dog’s needs might be different from the handler’s. But it is easy to forget that human behavior is also motivated by needs.

Using a compassionate approach that applies Maslow’s Hierachies to both dog and human, we can find a path to helping clients and their dogs.

In this thought-provoking webinar, Joe and Suzanne combine their collective experience using Maslow’s work for understanding both ends of the leash. This unique take on understanding needs and behavior was a hit when Joe & Suzanne first presented at her 2024 Trainers’ Workshop.

Big dogs know how to play hard…..sometimes not for the better. Big ol’ Duke here thought it was fun to chase cars after escaping his home….these things happen unfortunately. Thankfully Dad was able to get him to VCA Flannery Animal Hospitalquickly and we were called upon to transfer him to Guardian Veterinary Specialists while administering fluid therapy, medications and oxygen. This boy is a toughie and we are hopeful he will be making a complete recovery!!!’
