Did you know that up to 90% of performance horses have been shown to have gastric or pyloric ulcers. Many of these horses don’t show obvious signs in early stages, however, these conditions can lead to colic, weight and muscle loss, girth, undesirable behavior, riding, and performance issues.🥴

Fortunately, we can diagnose these conditions and in many cases achieve full resolution with early treatment. 👍

For G.I. health month, advanced equine is also focused on screening for other issues of the digestive system, including intern, parasitism, low-grade diarrhea, bowel syndrome, and conditions of the small large intestine.

Mud scratches, also known as pastern dermatitis or mud fever, are a common skin condition in horses.
They occur when bacteria or fungi pe*****te the skin of the lower limbs, often exacerbated by wet and muddy conditions.
This leads to inflammation, scabs, and sometimes even infection.
It’s important to keep horses’ legs clean and dry to prevent mud scratches and to promptly treat any signs of irritation to avoid further complications. As aways give your veterinarian a call to discuss.
