Just shy of 100 pounds of fresh dog food made today in our itty bitty kitchen (99 to be exact)!

We have an extensive list of ingredients to choose from, that are all dog friendly. If you ever have any questions about certain things we choose, feel free to reach out and ask :)

We have done extensive research on every ingredient that goes into our many different combinations and are happy to share what we have found.

Our ingredients are also approved by Tradition Chinese Veterinary Medicine- which is pretty cool because that means they have some serious healing capabilities.

This is something we've personally witnessed with one of our dogs and continue to receive amazing health updates from our customers ❤️

Four batches... 116 pounds... Three orders... And some food for our crew... Done, done and done!

Ingredient highlight: walnuts!

Believe it or not, walnuts, in small quantities can have benefits for your four legged friends. We grind everything up at Annie's Kitchen so choking hazards are eliminated, but the benefits gained are they're rich in antioxidants, omega 3 fatty acid, in plus other vitamins and minerals which contribute to a healthy coat and skin, improved brain health and more!!!

We base a lot of our ingredient choices off extensive personal research over 8+ years, as well as the food guidelines set forth by TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine).

Understanding proper quantities is important to us and keeping our doggo customers safe and healthy is always TOP priority 💕

94 pounds made yesterday in our itty bitty kitchen.

3 batches, 4 orders and some leftovers to get our three through another 1.5 weeks.

Ingredient highlight: asparagus.

Just like many things in life, moderation is key. There are certain dogs (especially those who are prone to bladder stones) who should avoid this tasty vegetable, but for most and in proper quantities, it actually is super beneficial.

A few (but not all because the list is long) things it provides are: vitamin C,K, A, E, fiber, potassium, phosoerous, manganese and more. It is plentiful in antioxidants and can help flush out toxins found in the blood stream, all the while supporting your dog's immune system!

At Annie's Kitchen, we have done extensive research on each ingredient that goes into our different combinations, so if you ever have questions, just ask ☺️

We can also customize food for every single dog we work with to fit their nutritional and dietary needs 💕

We've been a little quiet this past week, taking time off to deal with some personal matters. We did knock out some orders today. Same plan for tomorrow then we should be back on track going forward. If you want or need food before August, message us soon to grab a slot! We're filling up :)

A simple google search around “Why fresh food is good for your dog,” will lead you to many things but to put it simply some benefits (and we have witnessed this in our own dogs as well as others after switching) are:

More energy
Shinier Coats
Healthier Skin
Brighter Eyes
Less waste and firmer stools.
Better overall quality of life
Peace of mind

We started Annie on the food when she was nine (after having an out-of-the-blue big health scare). Our vet at the time suggested an MRI or wanted us to consider euthanasia because they believed what she was experiencing was neurological and could not be reversed. I literally walked out of their office balling that day… with so many questions that I didnt know what or how to ask.

You can read the whole story on our website BUT looooong story short, we met with another vet, switched her to home-made immediately. Within 2 weeks, she was back to herself and after one month was taken off all medications. She lived another healthy and beautiful 8 years and went on to be with her first little big great pyrenees brother at the end of this past April.

Now for our other 3 that have been on a mix of homemade since they were first brought home (8-12 weeks old), none of them have any medical concerns, allergies or have ever had to go to the vet for being sick and they all look and act much younger than their current age. Time will tell what an entire life of access to home-made food will look like along with a balance of good quality dry, but we feel like we already know what the answer is because we have seen it first hand in our experiences as well as our customers' experiences.

There is nothing wrong with kibble (just do your research because there are good and not-so-good options) but I do encourage people to consider how eating something dry (with limited variety) for every meal your entire life would make you feel? Our relationships with dogs have come a long way in past decades and they are family, so why not feed them like family?

I love strawberry season and so do my pups!

Monday, I had to clear out our personal fridge and pantry some. Lucky for the dogs, there were a few chicken breasts that needed to be cooked, some yummy veggies, fruit and potatoes. We were low on our personal supply so this quick batch made up 12 pounds to get them through the week. They've been thanking me ever since 🤪

Nice thing about having 3 food mongrols.... not much goes to waste around here!
