From my website:
Peak Equine Therapy offers a different type of bodywork that is designed to help your animal live their best life without restrictions or pain.
Myofascial Release is a hands-on, whole body, manual therapy technique that uses the fascial system. Therapists use MFR to elongate the fascial tissue with gentle pressure into the restriction or tissue barrier. After releasing through several barriers or restrictions, the tissue becomes soft and pliable. The technique releases restrictions or barriers from pain- sensitive areas and restores motion. Amy practices the John Barnes method of MFR.
Myofascial Release differs from massage and chiropractic manipulation. Myofascial Release applies sustained pressure into the fascial system affecting the elastin and collagen. This allows for the release of soft tissue restrictions that have altered the alignment of the bones. MFR releases these undesirable patterns slowly and without manipulation.
