Big Congratulations to our girls who showed at the NTHJC Year End Show! It was a huge show with about 300 horses and class sizes of 20-45! While our youngest competitor was scratched due to a misbehaving pony (as ponies sometime like to do), the rest of our team showed very successfully!

Ava pulled a 6th over fences in WTC Crossrails at her 2nd show ever at TRHP in massive classes!

Peyton won 18" EQ Reserve Champion with Rockit and pulled two 6ths on Kizzy in WTC Crossrails!

Grayson had her best Puddles class to date and snagged a 6th out of 27 in the Futures Classic!

Even Kat got an award, winning "Trainer of the Day" at the Fairfield Ring!

Our last H/J show of the season is next weekend in Greenville with ETHJC - we hope everyone had a fun weekend and has a great Monday!

It's the Year End show for the NTHJC at Texas Rose Horse Park this weekend! Come support our riders on Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be a huge show with 5 active rings and the Derby on Sunday morning. ☀️

Our arena dried up relatively quickly so we were able to do lessons today! That being said, with the time change, half of them were in the dark 😂 Hopefully we'll manage to sneak some more in before we get more rain!

It was such a beautiful day to host a field trip yesterday! Big thank you to Christian Heritage School's 7th and 8th graders who came to visit GRIT and learn all about horses. They were so attentive and left with some great knowledge about breeds, colors, nutrition, exercise, etc. Even the pigs and cats got in on the fun 🐱🐷🐴

What a busy and fun day! Full day of clients at Boshears, body work for our favorite pony mare, lessons at GRIT, lease rides, and never ending chores! So funny to have one of our shortest horses ride right after our tallest 😂

🎃👻It was a family affair at the NTHJC Wagon Wheel at TRHP this weekend. Congratulations to the Delleney sisters! It started off a bit rough but both of them pulled it together to have some nice rounds, including Rockit and Peyton getting 3rd in the hack and Catori and Grayson pulling a 5th in the Future Jumper Classic. Very proud of these ladies! 🎃👻

I am heartbroken to announce that Hendricks has been humanely euthanized due to neurological complications arising from an unforeseen event that was completely unrelated to the mass in his throat. Hendricks was an amazing horse and was very well loved. He passed peacefully with me by his side, full of cookies. Thank you to everyone who has supported his fundraiser and for everyone who did so many things so that I could be with him. If you have any questions about how to talk about this loss with our lesson kids, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.

First and foremost, I want to thank the many of you who have donated to Hendricks' Fundraiser and/or shared his posts! Because of y'all, we have raised almost $500! Here is his Day 3 Update (10/14/24).

I spoke with the surgeon at Texas A&M today and we decided on a course of action together, that is financially responsible but also ethical and gives him a great chance. We have elected to do a standing surgery where they will remove the mass and burn his throat with a laser. We will send the mass off to histopathology to determine what it is. We are asking people to pray that it is noncancerous

Morning Update on Hendricks: The wonderful veterinary staff at Texas A&M had to perform a tracheotomy to save Hendricks' airway. They performed an endoscopy in the early hours and found a large mass between his epiglottis and his adenoids. This mass is covering his trachea, thus the respiratory distress. His secondary symptoms of fever, elevated heart rate, and sweating were likely due to significant stress struggling to breathe. Tomorrow, his case will be transferred to the Soft Tissue service where they will determine the best way to move forward. One of the vets I spoke to said they think this mass is more consistent with a cyst rather than a tumor, which would be great if that's the case. THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and shared his fundraiser! Running a nonprofit is challenging at the best of times, but when we experience sudden large veterinary costs, we could really use our community's help

Unfortunately, one of GRIT's beloved herd is experiencing a medical emergency. Hendricks, who is one of our original herd, was exhibiting respiratory distress this evening (10/12/24). Our supporters quickly came together while I (Kat) was out of the state to provide him with emergency care. Unfortunately, this situation cannot be handled locally. Hendricks likely needs an emergency tracheotomy and surgery to save his airway. Some of our wonderful staff and volunteers are hauling him to Texas A&M as we speak. Hendricks has been an integral part of GRIT from the beginning, building bonds with clients through his snuggles and his expertise in Western Dressage and ground work. Please consider donating to help offset his medical costs! Every dollar counts! PLEASE SHARE!
