After careful review and consideration of our membershipโ€™s concerns, the GVHS will be holding a Special Election for the two (2) additional board positions previously announced January 4th. This will allow potentially interested members an opportunity to run for these two board positions. We feel very strongly that these additional two positions are vital to the GVHS at this time and will allow us to properly and productively serve our membership. This Special Election will be condensed to the shortest amount of time possible while still allowing the membership a reasonable amount of time to apply for these positions and vote. This time table is designed to allow the GVHS to address its members concerns while also being able to return to the other business matters at hand as expediently as possible.

Jan 13th - 17th Open nominations for membership to submit their bio, signed code of ethics and nomination form.

Jan 18th - 24th Review and vet potential candidates

Jan 26th - 30th Open voting for membership to vote on the approved BOD candidates

Jan 31st Announce special election results to the general membership

For this special election we will utilize the Voting Memberships pulled Sept 22nd 2024 for the 2024 elections. This will allow the same pool of voting members to vote in this special election.

I would like to share with the membership some of my plans and goals for 2025. There were several considerations that went into my decision to run for the GVHS president position. First and foremost, I wanted to do everything possible to ensure that we all have a healthy and productive organization for years to come. I only intend to hold this position for the 2025 term, and I hope when your next president writes to all of you a year from now that we are all able to look back at this year as one of growth, collaboration and realignment. We are all here because the Gypsy Vanner Horse has captured our hearts, and we believe in the foundation of this organization that we are all a part of. We've seen some amazing growth over the years and weโ€™ve also experienced situations that have brought us frustration and a deep desire for positive change. I will do everything in my power to help bring about that positive change, increase transparency and open the lines of communication with our membership.

This will allow for improved communication and collaboration during meetings with their screen sharing and whiteboard capabilities. This program will provide continuity across all forms of meetings in addition to giving our committee chairs increased support through streamlined scheduling.

My goal is to improve and encourage member involvement. By giving our members this opportunity to speak directly to the BOD I hope to further open the lines of communication so we can more effectively meet the memberships needs and address their concerns.

We will be switching over to a more detailed format for all BOD agendas and minutes. This will make it easier for our members to find the information they are looking for while helping to improve the flow of information from the BOD to the members.

I would like to see the GVHS adopt term limits, potentially a two-year format, for the President and Vice President officer positions. While these positions are vitally important within the GVHS they also require fresh perspectives and energy to maintain the highest level of performance and benefit to the organization.

If you are listed in the top ten of a division, please get your show photo submitted as soon as possible for inclusion into the Annual Meeting Presentation and the Vanner Magazine. Photo submissions are to be completed the same way no matter the division award or title earned. All photos for all awards need to be submitted through the online form. All photos need to be received no later than January 20, 2024. If you are unsure how to submit your show photo, please see the video above for a how-to tutorial. This method ensures all the information is correct for you and your horse and comes directly to my email. If you have not signed up to attend the Annual Meeting, please do so ASAP. As of this afternoon, the Annual Meeting is back to a three-day event, spanning February 23-25, 2024. Information on the main GVHS website will be changed tomorrow to reflect the change of dates once Angela gets a chance to make those updates. More information can be found in the Vanner Banner that gets emailed weekly. Be sure to sign up and get your entries in for the GVHS Youth Art and Apeech Contests. The GVHS Youth Art Auction is a great way for GVHS Youth Members to demonstrate their creative abilities. Artists may create artwork featuring the Gypsy Vanner Horse, compete to win a gift certificate and have their artwork on display during the Annual Meeting and featured in the Vanner Jr Magazine. Artists will be divided into two age divisions, 12 & under, and 13 thru 18. Enter today! The GVHS Youth Speech Contest is an opportunity for GVHS Youth Members to compete and show off communications and public speaking skills. The event is centered around the horse world, encompassing a wide variety of topics. All presentation subjects must pertain to the horse industry, or be horse related, and be original and factual. The presentation may be a demonstration or illustrated talk. Presentations cannot involve the use of live animals; however, model animals may be used. All contestants must register online by January 1st, 2024.
