As the new owners of Red Dog Ranch, we just wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves. I, Micki and my husband Todd are fresh transplants from Colorado, and we are excited to begin this new chapter of our lives in this beautiful place. I am eager to put everything I have learned from my extensive background in the canine world, from growing up as a second-generation groomer to owning and operating multiple businesses with services ranging from grooming, boarding, daycare, and training to the best possible use at the Ranch. Todd comes with almost 2 decades of business experience, and although those years were not spent in the canine world, he has recently found an intense love for pups! He is incredibly handy and has a mechanical eye that we plan on putting to work building an even better experience for all the Red Dog Ranch pups! We would like to take one last moment of your time for a shout out to Caitlin. She has been absolutely amazing through this entire process and although we have only known her for a short time, we recognize what a remarkable person she is and the amount of dedication she has given to her clients both 2 and 4 legged. And although we realize she has left huge shoes to fill, please rest assured we will be striving every day to do just that. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have for us, we look forward to meeting each of you and your pups!

The word is getting out about the Big News: Red Dog Ranch, LLC is under new ownership, and I've moved out of state with my three favorite dogs.
This has been in the works for quite a few months now, not only finding the right buyer for The Ranch, but then coordinating all the details to get them here and showing them the ropes of the place. The new owners, Micki & Todd, are excited and ready to keep The Ranch operating at it's fullest potential. Please be patient with them as they learn all your names, faces, and pups for the next few months. We have some loose ends to tie up with websites and social media accounts, but I don't doubt that they'll get the swing of things real quick, and the dogs will LOVE them.
**All reservations, daycare and boarding, are still in the books at The Ranch. Business will be as usual, and 256-483-6400 is still the number to call or text**

My decision to sell The Ranch was not an easy one, and I spent plenty of time weighing what was best for me, my dogs, my client dogs, and the community of the Shoals when it comes to boarding & daycare services. In the end, some fresh eyes on the property and the eager willingness Micki & Todd have shown toward the business told me this was a perfect fit.

Truly and sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their dogs at The Ranch these past 7.5 years. Through the ups and downs, personal and professional, I appreciate every single person that has allowed me to care for their family pet, and I won't soon forget you.

Good for a giggle 🤭

It took me a minute too, so to those who haven't yet 'got it' but are afraid to ask (you needn't be) the dude is Ivan Pavlov.

He is best known for a behavioural theory called Pavlovian/ Classical Conditioning.

Pavlov paired the sound of a bell ringing with food arriving. The dogs began to drool when they heard the bell, even if no food came.

Salivating is a natural, unconditioned response to food but now they drooled to the bell, a neutral 'indifferent' stimulus, so now the drooling behaviour is a conditioned response, cos it's been trained in.

Dogs, people and every animal learn by way of Classical Conditioning. What other examples can you think of for classical conditioning?
