In keeping with the cat month theme, introducing our most current addition!
His foster family is already in love so you may have to pry him out of their hands.
PawPrints Animal Rescue was founded in 2015 in the northern Kentucky area by a group of dedicated people with a passion for animals.
Our goal is to save as many lives as we can by saving all breeds of dog and cats that are at risk of euthanasia in area shelters. With the help of an amazing group of volunteers, all animals are fostered in loving homes until they are adopted. We are an all volunteer organization and rely on donations from the public to cover medical expenses and necessary supplies. PawPrints is a 501(c)3, nonprofit, status meaning any donations are tax deductible.
In keeping with the cat month theme, introducing our most current addition!

In honor of cat month, some new faces to the rescue!
Evie (f) black, Everett (m) white and brown tabby, Eddie (m) brown tabby and Eli (m) white and grey, will be ready for their forever homes in a few weeks.
Aren’t they precious? ♥️
Sugar and Peaches will officially be available for adoption on or about the first week of October! These two are incredibly bonded and will need to be adopted together 🧡 (preferably to a home with no other cats or dogs.)
Izzie and Remy were in their foster home for a very long time, but they have found their forever home!
A huge thank you to their foster mom for taking such great care of them.
Captain Jack is ready for his forever home!
He’s a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel who is great with everything. Get your application in now!
He is not a Great Dane mix (😂). We’ve corrected his listing but it will take a couple of hours to show correctly.

A little update on Rasheeda, our hospice foster who has bladder cancer.
She is the happiest dog we’ve ever met. Never has a bad day and always looks like she’s living her best life.
We’ll continue caring for her until she lets us know she’s ready to go.
We’ve received a number of Chewy gift cards and all have been sent anonymously, so we can’t thank the person or people who are sending them.
So, whoever you are, thank you!!! We are very grateful for your generosity!
The newest PawPrints face, Captain Jack!
Captain Jack is as sweet as he is handsome. He’s a good boy who knows basic commands, will go in a crate (although he’s not thrilled with it) and he’s made himself at home with his foster family. He even went camping with them and had a great time.
He’ll be available soon!
Introducing Sugar (brown tabby) and Peaches (orange tabby)!
These girls were pulled from a local shelter last week and immediately made themselves at home with their amazing foster family. Truth be told, it sounds a lot like Sugar will be a foster fail but Peaches will be available in a few weeks, once she’s spayed and has all of her vetting done.
Happy Fourth of July!
A few tips to keep your dogs safe. The 5th of July is the busiest day for shelters. Don’t let your dog become a statistic.
Congrats to Daisy and Dusty on finding their forever family!
We are so excited that they get to stay together and found such a wonderful family.
We had an unexpected adoption recently.
Roo (NKA Rupert) was adopted before we even had the chance to post him! A couple recently lost their senior Chi and were ready to open their home and hearts to a new family member.
Congrats Rupert! We know you’re going to have a great life with your forever family.
Please keep your pets safe during these high temps!
Taylor gave us a scare on Friday!
He was showing signs of having a urinary blockage so the wonderful staff at the Grant County Veterinary Clinic offered to see him immediately.
Thankfully, he was seen in time and before an actual blockage occurred. He’s loving his new food and now doing well.
These two beautiful babies are looking for their forever home!
Daisy (Tortie) and Dusty (Brown Tabby) ended up in a local shelter after their litter was attacked by a dog. These two were the only survivors and are the sweetest. You’d never know they had a rough start in life.
Daisy was injured in the attack and will need to have surgery when she is 5 months old. The surgery will be done through our vet and all costs associated with the surgery will be coverrr by the rescue. She’s doing really well and if you didn’t know she had an injury, you wouldn’t be able to tell by watching her run around and play.
We would love to see them placed together and will give priority to applications for both. If they are placed separately, they’ll need to go to a home with another kitten friend.
They’re currently 10 weeks old and are vaccinated, micro chipped, FIV/FeLV tested and neutered (Daisy will be spayed at the time of her surgery for her leg).

Some great information regarding why we adopt kittens in pairs, or into a home with another kitten.
Where are our Great Dane people?
Stunning 2 year old Lucy is approximately 100 lbs, has fully recovered from her surgeries and is looking for her forever home. She’s looking great!
Lucy is wonderful with everyone, including cats and dogs (although she’s not a fan of pushy dogs). She thinks she’s a lap dog so would love a home where she can snuggle with her people.
For more information about Lucy and how to apply to adopt her, please see her profile.

A new face!
We’re changing his name to reflect his new start in life, but we’re not sure what it will be yet.
This whopping 6 lbs, 8 month old puppy was surrendered to us yesterday. He didn’t come from the best of circumstances and, based on what we were told, we were expecting a snarling mess of a dog. We couldn’t have been more shocked when we met this sweet, adorable puppy who loves to give kisses to everyone he meets.
His history is a little fuzzy, but what we do know is that he has been in at least three homes in his short life, plus his current foster home. The next home he has will be his forever, where he’ll never have to worry about having someone give up on him again.
He’s been vet checked and, thanks to the phenomenal staff at the Grant County Veterinary Clinic, he’s already been neutered, heartworm tested, micro chipped and vaccinated.
This little guy is absolutely precious and everyone who has met him so far has fallen instantly in love.
He’ll be available very soon. We want to get to know him a little better so we know how to best place him. The next time we post, we’ll be able to share his brand new name.
Happy National Dog Rescue Day!
Daisy (available soon) would love to see your rescue dogs.
Introducing Daisy and Dusty!
You may remember us posting about a kitten with a leg injury a couple of weeks ago. Daisy is that adorable kitten and she’s doing phenomenally well in her foster home.
We’ll be looking for a very special adopter in a few short weeks. One who wants to shower these two with love and attention, and is able to take Daisy to our veterinarian for surgery when she is 5 months old and to care for her while she’s recovering.
We will cover the cost of surgery through the rescue veterinarian.
How can resist these precious faces?
* The first 2 are Daisy, the second 2 are Dusty.
Lucy (adoptable) wants to wish all of the pet moms a very Happy Mother’s Day!
Show us your pets who made you pet moms.
We have some exciting news!
Some of you may remember us begging (many times) for an adopter for Spunky. We honestly weren’t sure what we were going to do as she needed to leave her foster home but couldn’t be moved to a home with other pets, and boarding was entirely too stressful for her.
Her foster family stuck it out WAY longer than they intended (thank you!!!) and Spunky found her forever home yesterday.
We are so excited for her and her new family.
Thank you to her foster family for making this possible!
We have a couple of unexpected costly medical cases and will soon be auctioning or raffling off a couple of cat trees and gift cards to raise needed funds. If you have any gift cards that you would like to donate, please email us at [email protected].
The first is this tiny baby who we introduced to you on Friday. When we initially took her we weren’t aware of her background and her story is a sad one. The mom and litter mates were attacked by a dog and the two we have were the only kittens to survive.
This little girl suffered a traumatic injury to her rear leg where the head of the femur has been ripped off of the femur. In good news, she can have surgery and go on to have a normal life. In bad news, she can’t have surgery until she’s closer to 4 months old and orthopedic surgeries are costly. We can’t imagine the pain and suffering this kitten endured.
She’s now on pain medication and is doing as well as can be expected.
A true rags to riches story!
There’s no nice way to say it, Pixie was a hot mess when we pulled her from an area shelter.
Pixie was turned in as a stray with a large mass, multiple mammary tumors and she was in dire need of a dental. Thanks to the phenomenal care from the staff at the Grant County Veterinary Clinic and the amazing surgical skills of Dr Twehues, Pixie has a new lease on life!
It was months of caring for Pixie and her foster mom slowly fell in love and realized there was no way she could let Pixie go, so Pixie is officially a foster fail ♥️
We are so thrilled for both of them.
Before and after pics of this sweet girl.
New faces!
Do they get any cuter than these two? We were asked by a local shelter to take these little orphans. Sadly, there was a third litter mate who passed away before coming into our care.
Thanks to an amazing foster home; these babies are now fed, warm and safe.
They’ll be ready for their forever homes in approximately 6 weeks.
We are behind in our updates!
A huge thank you to Kathy B., Tammy T., Sabrina S. and two anonymous people for donating towards Lucy’s surgery, surgical suits for her and Chewy gift cards. We couldn’t do it without you!
Lucy was spayed today, her tail was amputated, she had a gastropexy (stomach tacking to prevent it from twisting if she bloats) and Dr B found a mass that he removed and it has been sent out for testing. We’re hoping it’s nothing and she’ll be ready for her forever home in a couple of weeks.
She’s up to a perfect weight of 95 lbs!
We’ll update as soon as we have the results from the testing and will be accepting applications for her at that time. Get ready…she’s near perfect and beautiful!
A video of her just before her surgery.
Lucy news!
Most importantly, we want to let you know she’s doing great in her foster home and she is now at an ideal weight.
Lucy is having her surgeries (spay, gastropexy - to tack her stomach in case of bloat, and amputation of her tail) on April 25th and will be ready for her forever home once she recovers.
We would love to have a surgical recovery suit for her so she doesn’t have a wear a cone all of the time after surgery (the cone would be HUGE!). Does anyone have a Great Dane sized one you no longer need, or would like to send one from our wishlist, or sponsor one?
If anyone is interested in helping to sponsor her surgeries, that would be amazing too.
We are so grateful for your support!

We had expected this post to be the one where we announced that Rasheeda and Daisy are adoptable and looking for their forever home, but rescue isn’t always rainbows and unicorns, and some posts are difficult to write.
When Rasheeda and Daisy came to us, we knew Rasheeda (black Pekingese mix) had some medical challenges but never expected what our vets found. We did blood work on the girls and knew Rasheeda’s was slightly off, but fully anticipated being able to do the surgeries she needed (remove mammary tumors, do a dental and remove a few teeth, and spay her). Before we were able to get that done, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Rasheeda is a very happy girl with the energy of a 2 year old dog who loves to run and play, but we recently learned she is a hospice case with terminal cancer. We will do everything we can for as long as we can to keep her comfortable, but she likely has 6 months or less to live.
For Rasheeda’s sake, we’ll keep them together until the time comes to let her go, then Daisy will be looking for her forever home.
It’s devastating news as these two are the sweetest, happiest, spunkiest little ones and we’d hoped to place them together.
Thankfully, Rasheeda is oblivious to her situation and still full of life and enjoying every minute of it.
* A huge thank you to Evie’s Legacy Pet Photography for these beautiful photos of the girls *

We have the best followers! Freya received a package of sweaters this week, just in time for the drastic drop in temps. She looks so beautiful! Thank you Susan ♥️ What are your pups doing to stay warm today?
We know we’ve been posting Freya a lot lately, but we couldn’t pass up this opportunity to share a feel good story about her. Her best friend passed away July 8th of this year, and Freya has really struggled with the loss. We’ve had dogs who grieved a loss, but she took it harder than any dog we’ve ever known. Yesterday, foster mom saw that she got into a bag of toys and was dragging it around the yard. This may not seem like a big deal, but Freya hasn’t played with any toys since she lost her friend. She was given the toy she wanted and then this happened. Foster mom may have shed a few happy tears. It’s extra special with all of the adorable snorts Freya makes when she’s playing. ♥️
This girl exudes happiness and joy! Oakley is a sweet, loving one year old Poodle mix. The best part is that she was born with the wiry coat that some Poodle mixes have, so no regular visits to the groomer are needed! For more information on Oakley or how to adopt, please click the link. https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/37807189-florence-kentucky-poodle-standard-mix
We had another adoption this weekend! Dolly found her Fur-ever home, so her foster mom put together this video to explain why we do what we do 💕 *the second half of the video is in the comments!
The dogs were so great today at The Bark Park & Patio !! Thank you so much to everyone that came out! The Easter Bunny will be back next year!

Winnie is a lovely girl with a cute grey nose freckle! She loves sun spots, snacks, all cat toys, and watching TV. She is affectionate and does well with other cats. We’re sure with time and proper introductions she would do well with dogs too! Apply now at: http://www.pawprintsnky.com/adopt.html
Winnie (grey & white) got lucky when she found shelter in the driveway of a PawPrints foster during a thunderstorm last August! She was rescued and she was able to find her confidence in a warm comfy home! She loves her bed spot and will purr up a storm when you give her belly rubs. All resident cats in her foster home love her! Fill out an app on http://www.pawprintsnky.com/adopt.html
