A week ago today, we lost a very special little girl who quickly wormed her way into the heart of her foster mom.
Rasheeda (aka She-She and her favorite name, Peanut) was surrendered to a local shelter when her owner became homeless and we couldn’t resist her underbite when we first saw her photo.
She was a sweet, spunky senior who had such a zest for life, loved to run around in the yard, had selective hearing when it was time to go inside, was very sassy with the vet and vet techs who so graciously cared for her, was never more than a foot away from her foster mom and the only thing she loved more than her foster mom was food.
Very shortly after coming into our care on March 5th, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer and was given a few short months to live. She also had mammary masses (likely cancer) and then had a suspected brain tumor. Through it all, she never had a bad day and was always her happy, spunky self.
Last Wednesday, there was a change in her and it was obvious that something was wrong. The wonderful staff of the Grant County Veterinary Clinic made time to see her. Sadly, x-rays showed that the bladder cancer had increased in size to the point that it wasn’t possible for her to continue having quality of life, so the tough decision was made to let her go.
While she far outlived her life expectancy with the cancer, it was nowhere near enough time with her and she is missed immensely.
