Summer is almost here and it's time to cool down! But while pools can be a fun way to beat the heat for you, it's important to remember that not all pets are natural swimmers. Here are some safety tips to keep your furry friend safe in and around the pool:
✔️ Never leave your pet unattended around a pool.
✔️ Not all dogs are doggy paddlers! Use a life jacket for pets who are weak swimmers or unfamiliar with pools.
✔️ Teach your pet how to get out of the pool safely. Create easy-to-exit steps or ramps.
✔️ Keep pool chemicals out of reach.
✔️ Provide plenty of fresh, cool water away from the pool.
✔️ Rinse your pet off after swimming to remove chlorine or salt.
✔️ Be aware of the signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting. If you see these signs, get your pet to a cool place and contact your veterinarian immediately.

A Day In The Life Of A Surgery Patient at #VCMCFP
Chickpea came in to have a mast cell tumor removed. Mast cell tumors are considered cancerous and in Chickpea's case needed to be removed.
It's always scary when you have to leave your pet and wonder what happens behind the doors when they go in for a surgery. We hope this sheds some light on the unknown.
Pet surgeries are very similar to people's surgeries. There is pre-op and post-op and all hands-on deck.
We're happy to say, Chickpea is recovering nicely and on the mend. ❤️🩹
