UPDATE 1/10/24 - Ripley (now "Koda") went to his new home in Wisconsin in December. He's still working on adjusting to the other (female) dog in the house, but his new owners say he's a good boy and is loving his new lifestyle. Happy Tails, Koda!!!
UPDATE 11/20/23 - Ripley has had all vetting done, is up to date on rabies and DHLPP, is heartworm negative, microchipped, and has been neutered. Vet guesses he's ~5 yrs. old and he weighs about 80 lbs. His foster has been working hard with him on coming when called as well as house and yard manners. NOTE: Ripley will need to go to a home with a fenced yard. He's located in eastern IOWA and will need to be picked up there as FCRSA Rescue doesn't fly or transport our Rescue dogs to new owners. He will be ready to go to his new home next week or after. If you're interested in Ripley please submit an Adoption Application (link at bottom of this post). If you've already submitted an Application, please send me an email to let me know that you'd like to be considered for his forever home!
Meet Ripley! FCRSA Rescue took him into our Rescue Program yesterday. He’s currently being fostered by a long time FCR owner in IOWA. He will be available sometime in the next several weeks, after further evaluation and vetting. Ripley was found as a stray and not claimed during his stray hold time, so he’s come into our Rescue Program as a “close look alike”. (Our close look alikes are dogs without AKC registration papers or a microchip to trace him back to an owner or breeder, but who exhibit FCR looks and temperament.) We think Ripley is approximately 4 years old even though he has a "salt & pepper" chin! He knows “sit” and “shake” and kept his kennel clean at the shelter. We will know more about him as his foster family works with him over the next few weeks. Please read FCRSA Guidelines
