Daisy steps out to say a quick hello on this hot summer Saturday.
Daisy is a 1-2 year old boxer mix. She is kind and gentle with people. She’s comfortable with adults and kids alike. She’s great on leash and knows not to jump up on people.
As far as the pack goes, Daisy is an alpha female. She gets along fine with other dogs as long as she’s calling the shots. She is not comfortable with eating around other dogs. Daisy needs to be fed away from everyone else. Daisy would be most comfortable in a home where she is the only dog or with an easy-going male.
Adoption applications for Daisy can be filled out on our website (www.wellingtontexasrescue.com).
We won’t have any posts of our dogs today, because we were in McLean most of the day helping out with the hoarding case they discovered 2 days ago. Marilou fed and watered this morning while I packed up the Tahoe and we headed out. We still hadn’t even cleaned kennels until late this afternoon. We’re pooped out…literally! But we’ll get pics and posts up tomorrow.
This is the situation we pulled up to in McLean this morning. This is only 23 of the 60+ dogs in the hoarding case. The status and location of the others are still unknown.
By the grace of God, our amazing friends at Tailwaggers in Wisconsin are going to be able to help get them out of Texas. Until then, 12 of them have been moved out of crates and into kennels. 11 still need a place to go temporarily. Spread the word and let’s get them out of those crates! Please and thank you.
Hey everyone, meet Rio! He is a very handsome 10-12 month old pup. We believe Rio is a Catahoula mix. When he was first brought to us, he would panic when we would pet him and have a nervous accident. He is very much over that nervousness and now loves affection. Rio is a super smart boy and so kind! He gets along great with the other dogs at the shelter and loves to play…especially with kiddos. We just love this sweet boy so much and hope he finds the best home ever!
Rio is available to adopt. Adoption applications can be filled out on our website (www.wellintontexasrescue.com).
This introduction is brought to you via video. This is Bo, Kimber, Willow, and Mama Venus.
Bo and Kimber are 4-5 year old bird dogs. Bo is the larger fella with lots of spots. Kimber is a bit smaller than her brother and has fewer spots. They were brought in together and had been together their whole lives. They didn’t enjoy the company of other dogs. As you can see from the video, today that is very much not the case. They have both become independent of each other, and right now are kenneled separately with other dogs. They are thriving and growing independently. We are very confident that they could be adopted separately. Although Bo and Kimber have never been hunting, they have that natural instinct and once off leash, love to track birds. Bo especially. Kimber is more of an explorer. She loves sniffing around and checking things out. They are getting better at learning basic commands like coming when being called. They are doing so well with the other dogs, they love kids and all people, and most definitely deserve a much more free life.
Willow is a 2 year old Australian Shepherd. In her 2 years of life, she had little to no human contact. She was extremely timid when she was first brought in. But she has grown to love human affection and yearns for it. Willow does great with other dogs and kids. She is not an alpha. She is more of an observer. She is quiet but attentive. Willow has great energy and is a quick learner. She is just an all around amazing girl!
Mama Venus had 8 puppies at the shelter in April. She has been such a good mom. If you’ve ever been to the shelter, Venus has more than likely greeted you as you were coming down the dirt road. Venus is an escape artist. Any kennel we have had her in, she has found her way out. She is very smart and curious about all things. Venus is eager to meet everyone that steps foot at the shelter, people and dogs alike. She loves humans and loves their attention. Venus is so kind and deserves so much more t
Last week felt like spring, and this week…winter. 🥶 But we’re ready! Here are a few of our doggies showing off their new sweaters and coats from our friends in Wisconsin and Sally Sanchez Warren in Wellington. We really appreciate them so much!
❤️🐾❤️
This is Champ. We picked him up one week ago today. He was covered in ticks, emaciated, and scared to death. Today he is tick free, gaining weight, and super friendly. I am so proud of how far this strong boy has come in only 1 week! ❤️🐾❤️
Our big transport was a success!! Thank you to everyone in Texas and Wisconsin who helped make this possible! They are all now in their foster and forever homes in Wisconsin! ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️
Leo, Freddy Fluff, Roper, Cheyenne, and Thor playing in the snow! ❄️🐾💙
(GusGus is the little one barking. He’s playing outside the fence, because he thinks he’s as big as a trex and chases the bigger boys.) 😂🤦🏽♀️
And the winner of the Pit Boss Pellet Grill is……
Currently at WRS:
Newbie Manny introducing himself to newbies Joey and Miracle.
Manny and Joey were pound pups until they got their FREEDOM RIDE today to WRS, thanks to Marilou Molina and her husband.
Miracle is 12+ years old and was found after she collapsed in an alley. She has lots of health issues due to the horrendous amount of fleas she had, combined with malnutrition and old age. She has a large hemorrhoid on her belly and tumor on her neck. The vet said they are not life threatening, and it would do more harm than good to remove them at this point. She is fantastic
at taking her medication and has progressed tremendously in the last few days!
Joey is headed to Wisconsin soon, and we’re crossing our fingers that Manny gets to go to Illinois. Miracle will live out the rest of her days with us at the office. ❤️🐾💙🐾💙
GOOD M🔅RNING from our new littles at the Wellington Rescue Shelter, Obi & Grayson! 💛🐾💛
