Happy Wednesday! 🐾 May marks Arthritis Awareness Month, highlighting osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative joint disease, a permanent condition impacting joints.

Did you know that up to 60% of dogs and 90% of cats over 12 years old display signs of osteoarthritis? If your furry companion seems less active or shows discomfort, it might not just be a phase. Recognizing the early signs of arthritis is vital for their well-being. Dogs often exhibit lameness and stiffness, while cats may become less active, hide, or show irritability.

Taking proactive measures can significantly help! We offer solutions like Librela for dogs and Solensia for cats. These monthly injections provide long-term pain control, allowing you and your pets to continue enjoying the activities you both love! As the holidays are quickly approaching, here are some pet safety reminders to keep your festivities accident-free and hopefully save you a trip to the ER!

🍫 In general, it takes about 1 lb of chocolate per 40 lbs body weight for milk chocolate to be toxic. Toxicity is higher for dark or baking chocolate. Wrappers can be a potential risk for blockage.

🍇 Probable toxicity dose for grapes and raisins is more than 1 grape/raisin for every 10 lbs

🍗 A fatty meal, even in small amounts, can lead to vomiting/diarrhea or even acute pancreatitis

🎁 Pick up your tinsel, ribbons, string, etc- these can be easily ingested and can be very hazardous to your pets

💐 Lilies, Poinsettias, Holly, essential oils, and burning candles are all potential pet hazards. Keep plants out of reach and limit diffusers to large, well-ventilated rooms

🐾 Plain carrots, green beans, potatoes, pumpkin, cranberries, and lean proteins are all safe treats to give your pets in small quantities. Make sure they are free of any spices/sweeteners or oils!

Don't let an emergency ruin your holidays! Be mindful of your pets and keep potential hazards out of reach.
If something does happen, the Pet Poison helpline (855-764-7661) is a great resource to determine whether you need vet intervention (there is a fee to use)

Monday-Thursday we will be open from 8am-5pm.
Friday, December 22nd we will open at 8am and close at noon.

We will be closed Christmas Day.

We will be open 8am-5pm on December 26th-December 28th.
Friday, December 29th we will be open 8am and close at noon.

We will be closed January 1st.

Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd. (7:45am-6pm)

For many pets the Fourth of July can be a difficult time. If your pet is one of them: try activity early in the day to tire them out, putting on white noise or the tv to help drown out the fireworks, and find a quiet spot (closet, bedroom or bathroom) in the house for them to rest. If you think your pet needs more help, please call the clinic to discuss possible anxiety-reducing medication.

In order for our staff to enjoy the holiday with their families, the clinic will be closed Monday, July 4. We will return on Tuesday morning at 7:45am. If you have an emergency, please call one of the following:
