Sure is nice seeing lots of eggs again!
Thanks to all of our egg customers for being patient with us through the winter while the ladies took a nice break from laying.
We are getting caught back up on egg orders this week and will begin filling eggs for new customers in the next week or so.

It is raining feathers from the sky it seems on our farm! Everyone is molting which is a normal process for hens to go through this time of year.
When hens molt they take a natural break from laying eggs for a couple months. This allows their body to reset and get ready for the next season of laying eggs.
We appreciate everyone’s patience with getting our egg orders filled right now as our daily egg counts are temporarily decreased.

A video clip of our ✨mosaic✨ chicks. They are now 7 weeks old! I believe 5 of the 6 are male so we will be looking for homes for most the males soon. If anyone local is interested in some gorgeous cockerels of this breed - give me a shout!

They come from gold feather farms which is the farm that created this breed. I can already start to see their blue tinted skin which the breed is known for.

The hens are back to being laying machines as spring nears! We are getting about 2 dozen or more eggs a day. Anyone who is local and would like some farm fresh pasture raised eggs- give us a shout. $5/ dozen.

Check out these adorable little chicks that just hatched here on the farm.

They are called ✨mosaic chickens✨ and come in a number of striking colors.

Another cool thing about them is that they have blue colored skin and ear lobes! We decided to add them as another breed of chicken on our farm because of their unique appearance and great personalities.

Stay tuned in late 2019, we will add them to our list of breeds that we offer hatching eggs.

Love that our egg numbers are starting to pick up again. Still not up to normal production but slowly improving so we will take it! We still have several more young hens to start laying too. Such pretty colors we are getting these days.

We (and the chickens) are about tired of all of this cold rain!

The chickens are molting this time of year so we are hardly getting any eggs each day. But soon enough they will have brand new gorgeous feathers and begin laying well again!

Today we are reminiscing back to late summer when the temps were warmer and the days were longer.

Some of the black copper marans chickens have stated to lay adding a pretty deep red brown egg to our baskets. We love seeing all of the fun colorations of eggs each day when we collect them from the coop.

A pretty basket of eggs this Sunday morning. I can feel a touch of 🍁fall 🍁 and know that it is just around the corner! The hens slow down their laying in the fall and winter months but it is still my favorite season!

We are getting some nice colors from our Olive egger chicken, Martini, recently. Her egg is the green one in this basket.

Here are Miranda and Darius Clucker free ranging in the cooler temps in the evening.

Chickens hate the heat! The are very susceptible to heat stroke and often do decrease their egg laying frequency when the outside temps rise due to heat stress.
