Mr. Pretty Kitty (aka Mr. PK or Cosmo) update from his new 'parents'. "I just wanted to reach out at the one month point and say how happy we are and we think Mr PK is with us. He makes us laugh every day and has been so good. He has the full run of the house now and loves sleeping in my husbands lap or between his legs. When not sleeping he hops from window to window watching the birds and wildlife. No issues at all. Just wanted to again thank you all and I know how long he was under your care so thought I would send an update and a couple photos."

IF YOU ARE FEEDING A STRAY CAT, YOU ARE BREEDING A STRAY CAT! The days are getting longer...time for all unfixed cats to start breeding! There is no such thing as a surprise litter. If they are not spayed, they WILL be having kittens (kittens as young as four months old can get pregnant). If they're not neutered, they are going to be fighting and breeding. Can't figure out what to do about that cat that was 'dropped' on you that you've been feeding? Give us a call at 540-745-7207 and we'll get it done!

Meet new foster cats Smokey (and the) Bandit. They are the sweetest mother/daughter pair. Smokey (mom) is about two years old and Bandit (daughter) is five months old. They can be adopted together or separately. (But of course they would love to stay together) They are up do date on vaccines, and will be spayed before adoption.

Meet new foster cat Blue! This big handsome long-haired boy is feeling timid and a little homesick right now. We are giving Blue extra love because we know this is a stressful time for him right now. Blue is four years old, neutered and up to date on vaccines.

Everyone meet Zoey! She is a 7 month old collie German shepherd mix and she is a very sweet girl. She is a little shy and needs some leash work but we don’t think it will take too long for her to learn. She is a very smart girl. Stay tuned for updates on this pretty girl.

To end 2024, we asked you to commit to compassion and make a gift for homeless animals in Floyd County. You did that and so much more!

Thanks to the generosity of donors like YOU, the year end fundraising effort for the Floyd County Humane Society raised a total of $39,884.

On Giving Tuesday, Judy Goins and Mark Cox, Mary Weeks, Jeri Rogers, and two anonymous donors pledged a total of $13,000 in matching funds. Their impactful gift energized animal lovers in Floyd and far beyond.

We received donations from as far away as Oregon, New Mexico, New York, Delaware, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, and Texasβ€”in addition to local gifts from across VA. In total, 116 individuals came together to far exceed the matching funds and contribute nearly $40,000 to local animals and community services.

The Floyd County Humane Society is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. That means that behind every dog or cat that is brought back to health, fed and nourished, and placed in a loving home, there is a team of community members who give their time and energy to make a difference.

Generous neighbors like you make that continued work possible. You give our volunteers the resources, spaces, and time they need to help animals in need.

With YOUR help, we did it!

Thank you for committing to compassion in 2024 and helping us continue our work for local animals. And, if you missed this giving opportunity, you can still make a gift today. In 2025, we look forward to helping more animals than ever before and working toward our goal of expanding our operation in a new, improved facility.

Deja, Tiger & Bob, known as the three amigos, did not get their holiday adoption miracle. But...they are still hopeful someone will adopt them as a trio. Surely, someone who wants a cat, will take advantage of the fact that they will likely be getting more cats in the future and will have to be concerned about acclimating them to each other and worry, will they get along? Well, that whole worrying process can be eliminated by simply just getting three cats at once that already get along. How brilliant is that? Instant cat family. Makes purrrrfect sense.

Foster cat Lana Del Rey is so gorgeous and sweet. What is not to love about this buff puffball! Lana is spayed, up to date on vaccines, negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and ready for her new home. We guess her age at around four years old. This long haired beauty would love a home for the holiday!

Courtesy Post (not a FCHS foster cat) Meet OJ (possible brother to Ice T). This boy is still a little bit shy with strangers, but as you can see, will warm up with love and food. OJ is a young cat that has already been neutered and has a rabies vaccination. Would be a great barn cat...and tame enough to be part of the family!
