Look at that beautiful butter! Our "pet milk" was essentially half and half last week. Half a gallon of heavy cream got me this butter and 4.5 cups of buttermilk! What should I make with my buttermilk?

We've been upping our ferments due to sickness in the house. So here's what's brewing... Pickles and Kiefer! For the pickles I'm trying to reuse the Bubbies brine. We'll see how it works! Usually I do it but just stick it in the fridge for a slow ferment. Hopefully this is recreating the actual pickles. 🤞

Guys, the house is a wreck. The kids are all sick. Charlie and I are doing our best not to be sick. He's coming home early to get some rest to try to stay well. We're doing crazy crunchy home remedies to try to kick this stuff out. But it sure looks like a disaster and I have no energy to care at this point. There are times like this, and that's ok. We'll catch up when we're old and the kids are gone. 😂

A little look at our education today. It involved more screens that I prefer, but also more outside time than some days. They got the kids couches out and studied gravity, buoyancy, and building.
A child lead reading session... they picked the book and I worked words with them that they know, and could start to learn. The oldest also worked on a really involved MAGNATILES tower with minimal help from me. After the 3 youngest went to bed the oldest and I sat together and finished the book we started earlier, discussed in more detail where books/paper came from. What reptiles are, who wrote the Bible, and other Bible related topics.

We didn't once pick up a curriculum book. When I follow their lead we get so much more done in their home education.

Just pulled out the discount chicken I home canned today! 🎉 Love finding 50% meat and canning it for quick lunches or in case of power outages.

*Always boil your home canned goods for 5 mins to help get rid of bacteria that might be lurking. We like making "creamy cheesy noodles chicken" with ours.
