Hot Asphalt – A Danger to your Dog’s Paws
Hey friends, we all know...it's hot. Like hot, hot. Everyone knows not to leave their dog in the car, even with cracked windows, but did you also know it's too hot for dogs to ride in your truck bed?
According to Whole Dog Journal it's just as dangerous. "Dogs inside cars are not the only ones who suffer in the heat. Dogs who ride in the backs of trucks are at extreme risk of heat-related illness, too. Truck beds – whether they are lined or not – get hot enough to fry an egg in the sun, so why would you make your dog stand or sit on such a surface? Plus, the hot air quickly can quickly dehydrate a dog, whose main tool for regulating his body temperature is panting. Once the dog gets dehydrated, he can’t keep himself cool, and heat stroke can follow rapidly."

Remember, if you think it's hot be aware that dogs normally run several temps hotter. Making a hot day worse for them.

The dog park is closed today and tomorrow, April 16 and 17 for Spring maintenance.
As everyone is aware we have a significant number of dog owners who are not picking up after their dogs.
We need to start complaining to the City. This is our only option since pointing out dogs defecating isn't working.
Please contact the City and let them know that something must be done to discourage people using the park but not cleaning up after their dog.

Three different dog food brands have been recalled in recent week because of bacteria that can sicken pets and humans who handle the food.
Are the City provided dog waste bags that are feet away from each entrance really that hard to get to?
In the 8 years the City has has this park open no one has ever needed to screw something to a tree for access to the bags.
This sweet girl was last seen near Pride Blvd between Walmart and Academy Sports.
Please pass the word and be on the look out for her.
The City does not mantain equipment not provided by them.
Whomever brought the pool to the park, please ensure that the mold and mildew buildup is taken care of. Water mold is toxic to dogs.
I'm not sure why this needs to be said but, STOP leaving your cigarette butts in the dog park.
There is a trashcan available on both sides of the park.
I'm sure you're not surprised to find out that ni****ne is toxic to dogs. What you might find surprising is that even the butt that's left behind might be deadly to your dog. Please do not use the dog bag receptacles for your garbage. Trashcans are available on both sides as well as next to the porta-potty.
Additionally, if, for some reason you use the long hose do not just leave it lying across the grass. Put it back where and how it is stored.
Please be respectful of the facility we have be given.

Dog owners in a southern French town are having to get their pets DNA tested under new rules to tackle the scourge of poop-strewn pavements.
Please do not move the black tub away from its current position. It needs to stay near the drain.

The City will be testing the irrigation at Park this morning. The sprinklers will be on for a time.
The dog park remains divided and will continue to be until they have finished laying the new sod.
As of this morning we are back to using the Chicago Street side.
Water has been restored. However, they have closed the Chicago St side of the park. You will need to enter through the other gate.
The water at the dog park has been shut off. We are trying to contact public works.
The City is going to re-sod the park. If they need to close it they will let us know.
A friendly reminder: cigarette butts are toxic for dogs. If you must smoke at the dog park please be respectful and dispose of the butts appropriately. Throwing them on the ground endangers the dogs.
There is an outbreak of kennel cough affecting the Foley/Gulf Shores area. Ensure that your animals are appropriately vaccinated and keep any animals you think might be ill from dog parks, boarding facilities and day cares.
With summer soon upon us please remember that you are responsible for cleaning up after your pet. Too many people are not doing so and it is making the park unsightly and unpleasant.
Please do not leave garbage and cigarette butts behind.
If leaving toys for all the dogs to play with, please ensure the are size and quality appropriate.
We have asked the city to fill in the holes on the large dog side to hopefully mitigate the mud.
BCSO is asking for the community’s assistance in locating 62-year-old Tony Allen Hall.
He was last seen at the Dixie Oaks Marathon Gas Station in Fish River/Marlow area on 10/1/2022 around 7:00 P.M.
Mr. Hall is 5’6” 150 lbs. If you have information regarding Mr. Halls whereabouts please call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 251-937-0202
