Good morning, friends!
Here’s a quick update on our progress. We’re working with an attorney to incorporate our organization and file for our 501(c)(3) status. She’s also fine-tuning our bylaws to ensure everything is in perfect order. Finding someone who could offer us a discount took a bit of time, but we believe this will help reduce the risk of our 501(c)(3) application being denied.
We’ve been connecting with and visiting other Humane Societies to learn from their experiences—gathering all the “What I Wish I Knew Before” insights. This has been invaluable as we build our own organization. Notably, we spent 2 hours each with Camden County, Nassau, and Jacksonville Humane Societies.
In parallel, we’re getting acquainted with our chosen fundraising platform. Once we’re officially incorporated, we’ll be able to open a bank account and kick off our fundraising efforts. This is a top priority for us because, as you know, fundraising is crucial to making the Humane Society a reality.
We’re also excited to announce that we’ll have a booth at the Okefenokee Festival! We’re looking forward to seeing you there and sharing more about our initiative.
We also owe you an apology. We sincerely apologize for not informing you efficiently about the rescheduling of our last meeting. We understand the importance of timely communication and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. To prevent this from happening in the future, we will ensure that both email and posts are sent more promptly and consistently. Your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated.
We understand that progress may seem slow at times. Each of us on the core team is juggling at least one full-time job, and we’re now in the busiest time of the year. Balancing our daily responsibilities with launching this project can be challenging, but we are committed to giving this initiative the attention it deserves to ensure it becomes a lasting resource for Charlton County.
In the meantime, please continue to post on the Charlton County GA Pets - Lost & Found and https://www.facebook.com/share/g/BFji379H1NhzYPEC/ . I’ve seen so many pets reunited on the Lost & Found page, and the FL/GA group, which is being rebuilt by one of our core members, can really help us all work together. Let’s keep supporting each other as we work towards establishing a physical Humane Society.
Thank you for your continued support!
Pawsitively Grateful,
Your Friends at Heart 2 Heart Humane Society
