We try to feed our roads once a week so I leave atleast a day a week off the books to feed birds. So happened today was my day off this week feeding birds. This is what a guides day off looked like.

Birds were real unforgiving in the wind and wet. We ran a full roster of puppies and inexperienced dogs with 16 covey finds.

Next year our deer hunts will be different. I will be offering 5 “membership” spots on deer hunts. I will not answer questions here if you’re interested message me. This would be great for a family. This is not a lease but will give you more freedom than just booking a 4 day hunt.

We have been on the guide truck 15 days this month thus far. We are seeing a lot of wild birds and getting some pretty good dog work. (259 covey in 15 days makes a pretty fair average).

I have fed several handfuls of dogs in my day. I haven’t fed one like this one. We are running full blast on the guide truck and I’m probably pushing the good ones with a blend of yearling pups but this dog right here finds them. 44 covey finds by herself this week.

Covey shaded up

Looks like a few of them made it

Hard to see them all, but there is a nice clutch of 9 + week old birds. Those birds were on the Bar B Ranch. Looks to be a good season ahead.

Quail chicks

We saw two good broods of chicks around the house this morning. Several birds live around here through the winter eating with the chickens and behind the horses. Looks like they’re teaching them to do the same.

Blue quail

Change up to blue quail talking. We are already seeing very early hatched blue quail broods this year.

Bob white

I was on the skid loader cleaning a set of pens and noticed 2 bobs sparring around over a hen. Then she flew up on the pens and I took this video. Side note, birds have been paired up for a good while and this is actually one of the first hens we have seen in almost a month.
