👶 A study in Japan shows that children exposed to pets early tend to have fewer food allergies compared to kids raised without pets.

They analyzed data submitted on behalf of 66,000 infants from Japan, and found children exposed to pet cats or indoor dogs during fetal development or early infancy tended to have fewer food allergies compared to other children.

The study was published earlier this year by Fukushima Regional Center for the Japan Environment and Children's Study.

The incidence of food allergies in children is higher than 1 in 10 children in high income countries. Previous research suggests a potential link between dog or farm animal exposure in pregnancy and early childhood and reduced food allergies.

🐾 Carson needs a new home! 🐾 He is a beautiful Australian Multigenerational Labradoodle, about 7 months old, available for a new home where he can live his best life. He is a sweet, affectionate guy who loves to play and learn new things. Very smart, responds well to training and thrives on activity with his people and other dogs. He would do very well in a family with another dog who is willing to play, or possibly kids who are old enough to be responsible, active and playful with him. He would NOT be a good fit for a family who needs to leave him alone for most of the day, as he needs lots of interaction and attention. Carson is crate and potty trained, and sleeps through the night reliably. He is neutered, microchipped, has all his vaccinations and is comfortable going to the vet. He thrives on new experiences and learning new things. He has completed 3 months of puppy classes as well as individual training and he does very well in these settings. He loves water and would enjoy swimming. Carson needs a family who is willing to put in some time and effort in training in order to harness his happy energy. Because he is so smart, he can get bored if left alone too much. He is friendly, full of life, confident and happiest being with his people. Ideally, he would also have a dog companion to keep him company. Carson has many wonderful qualities and we have come to realize that he needs a more active environment than we can provide at this stage in our lives. We know the best home is out there for him and trust that the right situation will present itself. He was purchased from Sierra Vista Labradoodles in Orangevale in March, 2024.
