So here are some updates…

1. Yes, this is another bun, Leo. I brought him home yesterday to start the bonding process with Buttercup. Currently I’m fostering to adopt and I will officially adopt him if the bond works out between the two, however long that takes. He was just neutered last week so his hormones are still settling down and all he wants to do is hump her. I will be waiting a week for more direct interactions, but for now he will just be next to her. It was always my intention to bond Buttercup, but I did not think I would get another rabbit so soon. Bonding rabbits can be a long and difficult process and while I’ve bonded many guinea pigs, I’ve never bonded rabbits. I’m hoping all goes well 🤞🏼

2. My Etsy shop is currently on vacation mode. This past week and weekend were absolutely crazy, in the best way possible, and I received SO MANY orders. I need some time to catch up on orders and give myself a little break. If you already placed an order, it will be going out soon. I do also have a full time job on top of The Piggy Shoppe so I work on orders during my spare time and after work. Thank you all for your orders and patience 💕

Well, I guess the…bunny…is out of the bag. Meet Buttercup, a holland lop mix! I adopted her two weeks ago on Halloween from the Oshkosh Humane Society. She was dumped outside by her previous owners because they were told bunnies could not be in their apartment. They just released her outside; how terrible.

I have been wanting a bunny for a while now, but I was waiting for the right one to come along. Adopting from the OAHS means they spay/neuter, microchip, litter box train, and give the RHDV2 vaccines right away, which are all the requirements I wanted. I saw this girl and she reminded me of my old Build-a-Bear stuffed bunny, named Buttercup. Buttercup is so sweet, but also has a sassy side (you know, like me). She’s not afraid to thump at me when she wants attention 😂. She LOVES being pet and is very motivated by treats (also like me 😂). She has been adjusting very well and we are currently working on free roaming. Welcome home, Buttercup 💜

Cage size matters! Pet store cages are not big enough, not even for one guinea pig. I do admit that I bought 2 pet store cages when I got my first girls. I thought the second one was an upgrade because it was “bigger”. Now I have a c&c cage that allows for the MUCH bigger space that my piggies need. Plus, these c&c grid cages are so much CHEAPER than the pet store cages so all around it’s a win-win. We all make mistakes, but it’s our job to recognize them and fix them.
