Kayla had 2 more races this morning, posting best times in the 50 free and 100 IM. She’s first alternate in the IM, so if anyone scratches she’ll get one more swim, but regardless she’s had the meet of a lifetime and exceeded everyone’s expectations! Except her own, of course…she’s been telling anyone who’d listen that she was going to be a world champion for months now! Mission accomplished!

So proud to introduce the 2022 4 x 50 Medley Relay World Champions! 🥇Maggie, Caitlyn, Lauren and Kayla put together a phenomenal race and won by nearly 4 seconds. They put in the work and got it done! Amazing athletes, amazing people. Thank you, girls, for one of the most memorable experiences of our lives!

Got to pick up our little patriot to spend the day off with her, just relaxing at the villa and regrouping for the last 2 days of competition. Turns out her 41.04 50 Butterfly on Tuesday broke a 4 year old Americas (North, Central and South, not just US) record for the event! She only held it a few minutes before a girl from Canada went a little faster, but still a FANTASTIC accomplishment! And like we said when we were kids…FIRST!!! 😂😂

Another great day at the pool! Kayla dropped 8 seconds off her 50 breaststroke and went from 20th seed all the way to top 10 and an alternate for finals. Another outstanding swim!

Great morning! Seeded 18th in the 100 free with a 1:38.59, finished 18th with a 1:35.11; seeded 26th in the 50 back with a 56.78, finished 23rd with a 53.89. Good time drops in both events and she won her backstroke heat so she was stoked! No finals or relays for Kayla tonight, so back tomorrow morning for the 50 butterfly. ..stay tuned!!!

Happy Father’s Day, Dad. My first one without you. You CHOSE to be my dad when you didn’t have to, and you taught me so much about life with the example you set. You set a high bar as a human being, a man, a husband and a father. It’s bar I can’t possibly reach, but won’t stop me from trying and I’ll be better for it. They don’t make ‘em like you anymore. If they did, the world would be a better place. You showed me things like toughness and gentleness, discipline and compassion, love and forgiveness, hard work and loyalty, chivalry and charity are part of the character of a man. My life wouldn’t be the same without you. I miss you every day, but I’ll do the best I can to carry on and be the man you taught me to be. It was a blessing to have you as my father and my friend. What a week! 6 races, 5 days, 3 events, 2 Gold medals, 1 Bronze medal and countless memories! Thank you to everyone who’s supported Kayla thus far, especially those who made the trip here to cheer for her and share this experience, Aunt DeeBell, Richards, Pappaw and Grammy Amy. Thank you John and Jesse for all the hard work getting her ready, and thank you to Coach Steve and Coach Debby for all your hard work with all the SoCal swimmers! Kayla’s next adventure is World Championships in October …in Portugal! LET’S GO!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Hi, my name is Kayla Ann Marie Aulis or my friends call me KK! I am trying to raise money myself for Portugal. I don't like to ask for money for myself just raise money for others better. But I need help my money this time. It is too expensive for my chores money and Petco. I want to go to Portugal in the World Championships to win and show everyone you can do anything if you work hard, stick to your trainer program, go to practice, eat healthy, be beast mode, and try your best. I want to make my parents, my best friend sister Marleigh Nicole, my coaches, and my trainer John proud. It is an awesome opportunity to swim with all my friends and represent the United States of America on the national swim team. I cannot wait to swim and I just want to win for my USA. If you have money you can raise for me, my Mommy is going help me tell you where to send it. If you do not have money, it is okay with me still. I still love you forever. You can send me prayers or smiles. My message to you is always be kind to others and be happy because it makes everyone happy around you and everyone is special their own way.

From My Mommy and Daddy: We are unsure exactly what Kayla will need to raise for her and one sponsor for Portugal. Each team member will have to raise their own funds as well as fundraise for the team to cover all admin, coaches, and other costs. She is trying to raise $10,000. She will donate anything not needed to the team so other teammates reach their goal. Kayla is right, it is counter to everything we have instilled in our children to ask for personal help, especially your hard-earned money. However, we would do almost anything to afford her this opportunity. She is qualified in and can swim 8 events at the meet. We will give more specifics on her current national and international rankings as soon as we have them.
