We strive to make your pet feel good and right at home with us. We offer different haircut packages based on breed and what's best for your pet. For animals who don't require haircuts we use de-shedding techniques to help limit shedding at home. We love what we do and have over 20 years of combined experience. We will also show you the best way to care for your pet's coat at home. Take a look at our website and you could even schedule an appointment online.

As the temperature rises owners of fur bearing breeds begin to realize their pets are hot. Mistakenly, many think that clipping these breeds down will help them be cooler. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
This time of year it's common to see these breeds 'blowing coat', meaning that massive amounts of undercoat are shed out at once. However, clipping is not the answer. Instead your professional groomer can remove that crazy amount of undercoat and help keep it in check year round.
This allows the coat to properly perform it's job of keeping the body cooler. The attached undercoat works like insulation keeping cooler air near the body while the guard coat reflects heat away. But when loose undercoat is not properly removed it impedes the coat from doing it's task.
Professional groomers provide so much more than a haircut. Talk to your groomer about booking an appointment for your fur bearing breed to keep them comfortable year round!

πŸΎπŸ’– This February, let’s step into the Month of Love and Care with a focus on a vital but often neglected aspect of pet wellness: Paw Care. Yes, those adorable paws need more than just cuddles; they require regular maintenance and protection! πŸ•πŸˆ

Why is paw care so important?

- Protection From Elements: Just like our feet, pets' paws are in constant contact with the ground, making them vulnerable to cold, heat, and rough surfaces.

- Prevents Infections: Cracks or cuts in the pads can become infected if not properly cared for.

- Comfort: Overgrown nails can affect your pet’s posture and walking comfort.

Paw Care Tips:

1. Regular Checks: Inspect your pet’s paws regularly for signs of wear, injury, or foreign objects lodged between the pads.

2. Moisturize: Use a pet-safe paw balm to keep their pads soft and prevent cracks.

3. Nail Trims: Keep nails trimmed to prevent discomfort and mobility issues.

4. Protection: Consider using booties for extreme temperatures or rough terrain.

Caring for your pet’s paws is a simple way to show your love and ensure they're always ready for the next adventure. Have questions about paw care? Drop us a message or visit Happy Tails Pet Spa for more tips and services designed to keep those paws prancing happily!

🦷🐾 A shining smile and fresh breath are signs of a happy, healthy pet! While Happy Tails Pet Spa specializes in grooming, we also recognize the critical role of professional dental cleanings in your pet's health routine. This Pet Dental Health Month, let's highlight why professional dental care is essential, even though these services are beyond our grooming scope.

Professional dental cleanings are vital for:

Plaque & Tartar Control: Veterinary professionals can remove plaque and tartar that are unreachable by regular brushing, preventing periodontal disease.
Disease Prevention: Regular dental check-ups and cleanings help prevent oral diseases and can also detect other health issues.
Early Detection: Vets can spot early signs of dental issues or other health concerns, ensuring timely treatment.
Overall Wellness: Good oral health contributes to your pet's overall well-being, affecting everything from eating habits to organ function.
While we adore pampering your pets with our grooming services, we also encourage you to include professional dental care in their health routine. A visit to the vet for a dental check-up can make all the difference!

Swipe for some tips on maintaining your pet's dental health at home and remember, a healthy pet is a happy pet! πŸ•πŸ˜ΈπŸ’•

Understanding Your Pet's Nutritional Needs

πŸ₯•πŸ– It's not just about treats and kibble – understanding your pet's nutritional needs is key to their health and happiness! This February, let's dive into the basics of a balanced diet for your furry friends. Just like us, pets need a mix of protein, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals to thrive.

Did you know that the nutritional needs of pets can vary based on their age, breed, and activity level? For instance, puppies and kittens require more protein and energy-rich foods to support their growth, while senior pets might need a diet lower in calories but rich in fiber.

Here are some quick tips to ensure your pet's diet is on the right track:

Quality Over Quantity: Choose high-quality pet food brands that list a protein (like chicken, beef, or fish) as the first ingredient.

Understand the Labels: Learn to read and understand pet food labels, keeping an eye out for essential nutrients.

Consult Your Vet: Regular check-ups and discussions about your pet's diet can help prevent obesity and other health issues.

Hydration is Key: Ensure your pet always has access to fresh, clean water, especially if their diet includes dry food.

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈπŸΆ As always, your vet is the best resource for personalized advice on your pet's dietary needs. And remember, a little treat now and then is fine, but the best treat of all is a long, healthy life! πŸ’•πŸΎ

πŸ’•πŸΎ With Valentine's Day around the corner, it's the perfect time to show some extra love to our furriest family members!...

πŸ’•πŸΎ With Valentine's Day around the corner, it's the perfect time to show some extra love to our furriest family members! At Happy Tails Pet Spa, we believe every pet deserves a day filled with love, treats, and pampering. Here are some heartfelt ways to celebrate this special day with your beloved pets:

1. Strike a Pose: Set up a Valentine-themed photoshoot. Capture the love with adorable outfits, heart-shaped props, and your pet's irresistible charm.

2. Paws and Play: Arrange a fun playdate or a relaxing spa day at home. Whether it's an energetic game session or a soothing bath, your pet will adore the extra attention.

3. Treats of Love: Spoil your pet with some homemade treats. Try our simple and delicious Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats or Tuna Hearts for Cats (recipes below). They're sure to make your pet's tail wag with joy!

4. Gifts from the Heart: Show your affection with a new toy or accessory. Whether it's a cozy bed, a fun toy, or a stylish bandana, it's the thought that counts.

5. Adventure Awaits: Enjoy the great outdoors with a special outing. Visit your pet's favorite park or trail, and make new memories together.

πŸ’Œ Remember, the most precious gift you can give your pet is your time and love. Wishing all our furry friends and their families a paw-sitively perfect Valentine's Day!

πŸ₯œπŸΆ Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats:

Ingredients: Whole wheat flour, eggs, canned pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, ground cinnamon.
Instructions: Mix, roll, cut with a cookie cutter, and bake at 350Β°F for about 40 minutes.

🐟😸 Tuna Hearts for Cats:

Ingredients: Tuna, egg, flour, water, and optional catnip.
Instructions: Blend, mix, cut into heart shapes, and bake at 350Β°F for about 20 minutes.
🧁 Both recipes are pet-safe but remember to introduce any new treats slowly into your pet's diet and in moderation. For specific dietary concerns, consult your vet. Bon appétit, fur babies!

🐾🦷 Smile, it's February, and we're kicking off Pet Dental Health Month with essential insights for your pet's pearly whites! Did you know that 4 out of 5 pets over the age of three suffer from some form of dental disease? It's not just about bad breath; dental disease can lead to serious health issues in pets.

Today, let's shed some light on the signs of dental disease in pets:

Bad Breath: If your pet's breath makes you flinch, it might be more than just what they ate.
Discolored Teeth: Yellow or brown teeth aren't just unattractive; they can indicate plaque buildup or worse.
Difficulty Eating: If your pet is shying away from food or has trouble chewing, dental issues might be the culprit.
Pawing at the Mouth or Drooling: These can be signs of pain or discomfort in the mouth.
Red or Swollen Gums: Inflammation is a clear sign of dental issues and shouldn't be ignored.
Don't turn a blind eye to these symptoms. Regular check-ups and proper dental care can keep your pet smiling wide! Stay tuned for more tips throughout the month and remember, a healthy pet is a happy pet! 🐢😸✨

With The Concerns Of The New Canine Illness That Is Affecting Pets Across The U.S. it is our priority to ask all clients if their pets are exhibiting any symptoms. If pets are, we cannot allow them in the salon for the safety and wellbeing of all the fur babies in our care. If your pet is experiencing symptoms at their appointment time we will have to reschedule their appointment and ask for a clearance from your vet that your pet is healthy and symptom free.

If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, please see your vet right away:
