The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) yesterday reported three more H5 avian flu infections in pet cats after exposure to raw food or raw milk.

Looking for an after hours option for emergency care? Urgent Vet Care, located in Cockeysville, MD (near Valley View Nursery).
Urgent Vet Care not a 24 hour clinic however they are able to see same day emergencies at a lower cost to include non life-threatening surgeries. They are also able to see reptiles and small mammals. Open 11am-9pm 7 days a week. You can reserve a spot online for same day/next day appointments.
Rock Spring Veterinary Clinic is still available to see these appointments during normal business hours; however, after hour care is crucial for our pets.

We want to alert the public about a scam targeting people with missing pets. Individuals who have posted about their lost pets on social media, along with their contact information, are receiving fraudulent calls from scammers spoofing BARCS’ official phone number, 410-396-4695.

The scammers are posing as BARCS employees and falsely claiming they have found the missing pet. They report that the animal is in critical condition and urgently needs medical procedures, then demand immediate payment via CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, or other third-party payment apps. While BARCS does have official Venmo and PayPal accounts, we will never call and request payments in this manner.

If you receive such a call, please do not send any payments. Instead, email us at [email protected] so that we can continue tracking these incidents and file reports with the authorities.
