Red Oak Farm is growing this brute of a bull calf out for a friend who is just getting started in the Fleckvieh breed. He needs a few more months before he is ready to cover cows, but if you wait you will miss out! There is a ton of red meat in this bull and he doesn’t carry the dilution gene, so he can be used on black cattle too. PM if interested. Pedigree in comments.

It is Magnolia Classic morning again! For the first time in a decade, I won’t be there in person. Clay will cover me ringside and with any questions buyers may have. I had breakfast with Little Creek Xpress this morning. We discussed the impact he has had on the breed and more specifically the Magnolia Classic and this farm. He will be well represented today by Lot 1 and many other daughters and granddaughters. I know it is silly to many, but having coffee with a legend on a crisp fall morning is almost as good as farm life gets, even if he is a 14 1/2 year old bull!

This is Red Oak Katherine (Lot 11 Magnolia Classic 2024). I always attempt to keep my best heifer and offer the others from the top of my calf crop at premier sales like the Magnolia Classic. Every once in a while we all make mistakes. Red Oak Katherine was the keeper! Look in Comments for more photos.

MAGNOLIA CLASSIC 2024 Lot 12
Red Oak Kasey is a non-diluted daughter of Little Creek Bishop 545B and K***z Climax. Bishop is a heck of a cow with a tidy, productive udder and a lot of growth. She has daughters working well for producers from Texas to Georgia, and here is your chance to get in on some great, trustworthy genetics through her first daughter to sell out if Climax.

ANSWER: I thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of the guesses. The truth is, 503 is a heterozygous polled Coach heifer, 109 is likely a homozygous polled Coach heifer out of Lot 6 Magnolia Classic 2023, and 45K is a HORNED Titanium heifer out of a RichMc heifer we brought down from Canada.

These three young ladies are always together. Two of the three were born polled. One has been dehorned. I bet you can’t pick her out! Zoom in and give it your best guess!
PS-The horned heifer is staying at Red Oak. She is a keeper! Horns don’t bother me one bit.

The Bahia grass that had been our summer grazing for the last 50 years didn’t come back this year, but thanks to advice from Jonathon at the Quality Co-op and Mr Steve Tanner, the cows are off of hay and happy again! They can’t keep up with the Tifleaf Millet!

The weaned heifers met Tikka the other day. “Dog breaking” is pretty gentle around here. Usually just a quick nip on the nose trains them for life. We move and pen our cattle frequently with Tikka’s help, and there is very little running and almost never a bite. They remember the first one and just usually go where the dog tells them to go.
