🚨 **WYOMING LAWMAKERS MAY ASK CONGRESS FOR PERMISSION TO KILL WILD HORSES — AND WE SAY ABSOLUTELY NOT!** 🚨
How did we get to a place in America where killing our federally protected wild horses is even being considered a solution?
According to an alarming October 12 article published by Wyoming Public Media, state lawmakers are considering a resolution that would ask Congress to:
🚨 **Authorize the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to kill wild horses.**
🚨 **Allow private landowners to use helicopters and motor vehicles to capture or kill wild horses and burros.**
🚨 **Restore federal funding for horse-meat inspections, potentially reopening the door to commercial horse slaughter in the United States.**
And perhaps most disturbing, lawmakers are discussing joining forces with other Western states to push these changes at the federal level.
**THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT WYOMING. THIS COULD THREATEN WILD HORSES ACROSS THE AMERICAN WEST.**
These magnificent animals are not disposable. They are living symbols of the American West, part of our nation's natural heritage, and protected under the **Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971**.
Yet here we are, more than five decades later, discussing whether Congress should open the door to their destruction.
**At Love Wild Horses Foundation, we strongly oppose any effort to authorize the killing of America's wild horses.**
For far too long, the conversation has revolved around roundups, removals, confinement, fertility control, and now potentially killing the very animals our government was entrusted to protect.
**When will we stop treating wild horses as the problem and start recognizing their potential to be part of the solution?**
Our Foundation is demonstrating a different path through our Equine Rewilding & Fire, Water and Land Resilience model — returning rescued wild horses to protected lands where their natural grazing, movement, and ecological interactions contributes to healthier grasslands, soil moisture, vegetation management, biodiversity, and fire resilience.
Rather than spending taxpayer dollars perpetuating a cycle of removal and confinement, we should be investing in innovative, humane, land-based solutions that consider ALL stakeholders — wild horses, wildlife, landowners, ranchers, taxpayers, and the health of our Western landscapes.
**America does not need another excuse to kill wild horses. America needs the courage to change how we manage them.**
We urge Wyoming lawmakers and members of Congress to reject proposals that would permit the killing of these protected animals and instead explore solutions that honor both the land and the lives entrusted to our care.
The proposed resolution has not yet become law. It is expected to be considered during Wyoming's 2027 legislative session, which means **NOW is the time for the American people to make their voices heard.**
Our wild horses have already lost so much. We cannot allow them to lose the protections that were created to ensure their survival.
**THE ANSWER IS NOT TO KILL THEM. THE ANSWER IS TO GIVE THEM A FUTURE.**
