Kingston qualified for regionals at I1 dressage today, only 6 weeks after qualifying at Prix St Georges. That's the 7th level out of 9. Today he posted a 70.0. Great job Natalie in preparing him and riding only 2 weeks after his hunter/jumper show! The big guy really works hard and loves his jobs.

Morrison Equestrian Center's Budly is looking for his forever home. He continues to get more training and is getting better everyday. Budley (Bud) is a 2017 QH mix just under 15h. He is a intermediate ride. Can jump up to 2'9. He has gone to 3 shows and came home with a lot of blues! He is great on trails and hacks alone or with others. Very friendly and an in your pocket kinda guy! Lowest fives.

Croft Original (Lola) is a been there done that hunter jumper. She is a 2'0 -2'3 horse because she is towards the end of her career. She hacks with or without others. She stands for the farrier. Loads easy. Loves trail rides. She gets chiropractic work done and wears shoes. Very sweet and kind mare. Must be a good home. Less than 20.

Great weekend at the Silver Fox show at the NEC. This was Memphis' 2nd show ever and first indoor and he looked like he had been showing for years. It was Richie's first in a long time and he did great. Congrats to Kendahl and Bettina. All the hard work is paying off.

Kingston V.D. Peelvenhoeve's story so far.......

November 2020

Our Trainer at the time, Tarnia Morris-Jones, found a beautiful KWPN Royal Dutch Warmblood, named Kingston. It was love at first site, but having not imported a horse, we were reluctant without putting eyes and a ride on him. Fortunately, Tarnia has a life-long friend, Tom Tarver-Priebe that she contacted in Germany, who jumped a flight to Holland and took Kingston for a spin and gave him a thumbs up. With Tom's background, all reluctance melted away and Kingston would soon be on his way to the USA. Tom is on the New Zealand Olympic team, just finished 8th in the 1.55M World Cup Grand Prix in Morocco and might be doing a clinic in the coming months at Tarnia's Oak Ridge Farm in Waterloo, IL, that she opened in December 2020. We will be sure to pass the information when that clinic happens. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Tarnia for finding Kingston!

December 2020 - May 2022

Right out of the gate we were in awe of his power and athleticism. About 6 months into training Kinston started to have some missteps while being ridden, including significant trips. This obviously wasn't safe and we needed to get to the root of the problem. We had Mid-Rivers Equine, Dr Baxter, complete an extensive evaluation including testing for neurological problems. Everything came back negative and some time later Dr Baxter recommended that we send Kingston to Rood and Riddle for them to take a second look at Kingston and to try to figure out what was going on. After several days of detailed evaluation, x-rays and testing, again nothing showed up and all tests were negative, thank God!

We brought him back from Kentucky with no real answer for what was going on with Kingston. Our instructor at that time had been telling us we should put him down and continued to do so even after the experts said that Kingston was clear of neurological problems. We were frustrated, concerned, but smart enough to listen to the experts. Could it have been that he was growing so fast that he had lost some coordination, we will never know. We asked Kingston, but he never told us.

June 2022 - November 2022

That's when Dr Baxter had the brilliant recommendation to put Kingston into dressage training, to help him work through issues and build his strength, balance and agility. That was the best advice ever, thank you Dr Baxter!!

We immediately started a search for a dressage trainer, and we were very fortunate to find Natalie Hammond. In short order, Natalie had Kingston going without a single misstep. Natalie and Kingston connected right away, and she had him ready for his first show in 2 months at the National Equestrian Center. Kingston made his first visit to Kentucky Horse Park in November of 2022 as he tagged along with Natalie's horse Rufus, who had qualified for Nationals. It was a great learning experience for all and Kingston was a trooper having to deal with some craziness in the warmup arena and with very cold and rainy weather, competing at 1st Level.

December 2022 to November 2023

As we closed out 2022 and moved into 2023, Kingston was picking up dressage at a rapid pace and followed Natalie's lead in learning more and more advanced skills. He qualified for Regionals 3rd Level and the very next month qualified for Regionals for 4th Level. After a quick show at Lamplight up near Chicago, the team hit Regionals at Maffitt Lake Equestrian Center in Iowa and Natalie and Kingston qualified for the 4th Level Dressage National Championship at Kentucky Horse Park that took place last weekend.

November 10th - 4th Level KY Horse Park
November 11th - 4th Level US Dressage Final
November 12th - Prix St Georges

Kingston and Natalie just had an awesome weekend doing very well all three days. It's been amazing to see what a great trainer and a very talented horse with an exceptional work ethic have been able to accomplish in just 17 months. Kingston just earned his FEI status and in his first ever Prix St Georges test, got a blue ribbon and qualifying score for the 2024 United States Dressage Federation Regional Championship.

We couldn't be prouder of Kingston's growth and maturity, and we can't thank Natalie enough for all of her hard work and belief in Kingston. The big guy is all business every time he steps into an arena and we look forward to seeing what more he can accomplish in the coming year.

Here's a link to the video of his PSG test last Sunday.

Meet Morrison Equestrian Center's super sweet lesson horses, Mayhem, Budly and the most recent addition, Jasper. All three have been working hard and are ready to go.

Our Trainer, Bettina, does an amazing job of teaching riders how to connect with the horse and how to become a better rider.

We have a few spots remaining for lessons and if you are interested, please message us and we will set up a time to tour the barn and meet Bettina and the horses.

In another first for showing, Morrison Equestrian Center's "Memphis", had a great weekend and progressively got better in each class, with several blue ribbons along the way. This young horse has come so far in just 3 months and if he continues to learn and perform at this pace, he has a huge future ahead. We couldn't be happier with the progress that Bettina and Kendahl are making with this beautiful horse.

Big weekend for Morrison Equestrian Center's 6 year old, "Budley", in his first show ever. He had five 1st and a 4th and was Champion on Saturday. He stepped right in as if he's being doing shows for years. Great riding by Kendahl and training by Bettina to get this green horse going so well.

MEC's Kingston and Natalie Hammond attended a Scott Hassler clinic in Pacific this week and the big guy continues to amaze us with the athleticism, brain and work ethic. A huge thanks to Natalie for getting Kingston to knock at the door of Prix St Georges in 12 months. Another huge thank you to Scott Hassler for coaching Kingston and Natalie.
