Did you know that less than 10% of the pets that are unchipped will return home each year?

A microchip is a secure, reliable, permanent identification for your pet and the process is simple and affordable. Microchipping your pet can help ensure that if your pet goes missing, they can be identified and find their way back to you.

If your pet is chipped, make sure their information is up to date. To help keep pets close to their loved ones, share this post and remind your friends to !

Is your pet scooting or licking their rear? It could be their a**l glands.

A**l glands are located on the rear of dogs and cats. The glands produce an oily, fishy-smelling fluid that helps with scent marking. Sometimes these glands can get impacted or infected.

Soft, consistent stool, as well as allergies, are common causes of irritation. If your pet is scooting, licking excessively, or showing signs of discomfort around their rear end, contact us! We will help to identify the cause and determine the best course of treatment.

This procedure allows us to collect sterile urine samples for testing. You may be surprised to learn that patients object less frequently to this than exams of their ear ca**l or nail trims!

With tomorrow being Hairball Awareness Day, we wanted to remind our cat parents about the importance of preventing hairballs.

Accumulated from excessive grooming, hairballs can build in your cat’s digestive system and either get coughed up or in some cases, need surgical removal.
If your cat is excessively vomiting, lethargic, loses their appetite, or has diarrhea or constipation, these may be signs of a blockage and you should contact our team immediately.

Small amounts of lightly colored ear wax may be normal. However, if you notice, dark, thick, or foul-smelling ear wax your pet may have an infection or inflammation in the ear ca**l. Other signs to watch for include frequent scratching or shaking of the head, redness or swelling of the ear ca**l, and abnormal behaviors.

Treating an undiagnosed infection with home remedies or leftover medications can create infections resistant to antibiotics or painful conditions (like a ruptured eardrum, OUCH!).

While not considered a medical emergency, ear infections are painful and are best treated urgently. This means you should seek care within a few days of the onset of symptoms.

As always, if you need to schedule an urgent care visit, contact our office as close to 8am as possible in order to snag one of our Same Day* visits.

*There is no extra charge for Same Day visits. These visits are limited and are available first come, first served.
